UNBELIEVEABLE FIND LIKE NEW 1977 CR125

The original owner bought it new in 1977 and only rode it a few times during season one then stored it inside his house since late 1977. The bike is flawless. I looked everything over carefully and the original Bridgestone front tire looks brand new on the knobs but has cracking on the side walls. The rear tire is slightly worn but also has cracking. Nothing was restored ever. The engine has never been apart, it even has the white plastic gear shifter shaft guard that looks brand new. The tank looks showroom with the original stickers...really amazing. He lost all the paperwork so I got no paperwork,,,dam!

A lot of people are asking what I paid.....$3100 cash.

I think this was a great deal.

When I moved to Colorado in 1981 I went in the local Honda shop and he a 77 125 and 250 on the floor. I was looking at them and he said he would make a deal , buy the 250 and get the 125 free. I said no way and he was bummed because he said he had several more of each in the crates and he couldn't give them away.

Had one if these, does it have the rear tyre with the 3 or 4 different spaced knobs for hard and soft dirt? What was it with Honda and their crazy tyres, remember the claw action on the 250 R's?

I remember those. The Varial Pitch Knobby. They were closely spaced then widened out around the entire tire. They don't make tires like they used to

I am a Honda guy so no doubt its XMAS day in North Carolina. This bike has the original tires, plastic, cables, rims, etc etc.....evidentially the original owner used it quick and then displayed it in his house since 1977.

I have seen a lot of old school MX bikes in awesome shape but this CR is the best I have ever seen.

I feel really lucky getting this one. The drive home on the interstate was interesting....I have an open trailer and quite a few cars were pulling up next to the trailer and looking the bike.

Thought I'd share.

WHITE CARPET- I would recommend all of you guys with a wife (like me) and a bad habit of storing your bikes inside the house please pick a different darker color. Every time I get a stain from one of the bikes I have to buy another bike to cover it up.......on the other hand its quite a smart way to add bikes to the herd! If all the bikes were removed she would friggen kill me....the carpet is ruined for sure. The open spots look great between the bilkes...

Amazing find! My very first bike was one of those, I bought it off my brother ,it was about third or fourth hand by then in about 1979. I learned to ride on that bike, but it was a clapped out pig that had all the nuts and bolts and threads in engine cases etc ,stripped and butchered. I remember it was a terrible bike, I sold it for $ 100 or so in 1980 and bought a near new rm 100 which was so much better...
Anyway I sure wish I still had that bike...I wonder where it ended up...
Oh well..... A fantastic find and I don't think I'd ride it...just keep it like that....if I wanted to race a 77 model 125 I'd try to get an RM 125, they were light years ahead of the Honda, which was still pretty much the same as the 74 model.
The Suzuki had an " up pipe" a reed valve and much longer travel suspension.
I don't think 77 was a great year for the CR marque.
The FMF racer and the Mugen look brilliant.... I gues I'd go with the conversion to the FMF racer...that was an interesting bike. The stock 77 Elsinore wasn't interesting or remotely competetive. The fact that this bike exists in its as new state is, however, astounding!

What a great find, congrats. And for those of us that grew up around these kind of bikes, you got a huge bargain at 3 grand, IMHO. Glad you took it for a ride, it was the right thing to do.
