Hi Guys, I was on the phone to one South Africa's biggest MX bike collectors, this guy has over 100 MX bikes, including David Bailey works machine and a few other very special bikes. I told him how accommodating and helpful everyone is on the Old School Moto threads. So, can anyone please help with a cylinder and rear shock...

Yeah Harv, just get them to mask the machined faces x 2 on rear hub and x 1 on front hub. I've just had a set done for my '95. I also went to collect my plating this week, and when I got there my bolts had been mixed up with another customers' stuff, which he had taken home with...

OnedayWhip Started a new thread 2003 McGrath Replica - now 2002 RC replica

Hey Guys, I'm posting here as I've gotten to know a few of the old school moto guys. I have a 2003 and after almost finishing my '96 McGrath replica, I decided to tear down my '03 for a decent clean. I took it too far and pulled engine out and commenced operation wire brush then scotchbrite. Looking at some...

Hey guys, so I've just picked up a mint low hour 2002 CR250, and have decided to use this as my base for the Ricky Charmichael replica, changed my mind on the MC replica seeing as though RC was so successful I owe it to the GOAT Smile Can anyone clear up the following for me? -what size rear disc...

I had my radiators re-cored at an aluminium fabricator, around $150 for both, also just saw that Motosport.com is doing Myler's radiators for $150 up. Maybe worth checking out?

OnedayWhip Started a new thread SFF vs Ohlins vs 2nd hand A-kit

5/28/2015 5:15pm
Hey Guys, Another question, what suspension would you recommend, once again for a 2012 CRF250R (Actually a AF CR250 project). Dogger's super sweet AF builds have got me wanting a more modern CR250. A-kit would be first choice if I had $12 000, once you convert that to South African rands its enough money to buy a small car. So...

This is awesome to hear! Thanks for the feedback guys. Its a big purchase for me to make, especially once converted to South African Rands and shipping costs are factored in. Have you guys looked for certain year forks, ie not too old, or do you just judge from images? The ohlins 48RXF DLC fork and TTX rear shock together...

OnedayWhip Started a new thread 2015 plastics on 2012 CRF? Anyone tried?

5/25/2015 2:10am
I've seen lots of plastics conversions, but not yet a 2012 CRF with 2015 plastics. Has anyone tried this yet? I know gen 5 and 6 frames are different, but do you think this can be done, not ghetto style though. Thanks any help/input appreciated.

What I'm asking is can it be done by going the whole hog and even changing tank etc? I guess the question is : are the subframe and frame too different to attempt this? As I said I don't want it looking ghetto. I like the side panels and tail of the '15, that's what I'm after on the '12

I hear you there, and I'm sure some of the kits have worked hard and might be 5 years old plus. There is a nice kit on currently for $6000 on Ebay, but man that's a lot of money.

That sounds just about perfect! Man it must be a blast to ride. So what all was done to get the geometry dialled? I know you went to great lengths to get the countershaft position right, I also remember you said something about lengthening the rear wheel position? Do you have any videos I can see? I'm dying to hear/see...
