Ok,I never rode anything but open bikes from 14 yr old on,sure,I hoped on 250 elises and such when they came out but my fun was the most powerful there was.

When I had to ride a 250 in 88 i think it sucked, not fast enuff. You could not pick the front up over that hole when already wound out,I crashed a lot.

Now,with 450s it is heaven again, the 610 husky i raced 2 yrs was probably the most fun bike i ever had.

It just weeded out people that cant work on or afford it ,just is what it is.

Best damn bike I ever owned was my 90 CR500. The thing was unbreakable and could be modified to be serviceable in any situation, single track, fire roads, moto, ice. Knowing how to ride the thing was paramount, rather than all these folks who want a bike that only makes enough power for their taste I loved knowing I was riding a beast that had to be kept in check and respected and had lots in reserve when I dared to tap into it. And I am totally with you on the 450's, my 03 YZ450 was a top fuel dragster that was perfect for my 200+ pounds and a sand track like Baja Acres Smile

OK.

You do realize that Motocross started with four stroke technology, and only moved to the two stroke power plant in the 1960's?

So, using your reasoning, Guys like Joel Roberts and Torsten Hallman "ruined" the sport in 1966 by racing and winning on 250CC two stroke bikes? Are those guys on your "mx shit list" also?

YZ400fs were not hard to start, take them past tdc with the decomp lever then kick hard and fast with no throttle, first or second kick hot or cold.... My brother bought one in 98, he still has it and it is an awesome bike, it's done hours and hours and hours including 3 Weston beach races ( 2 with me on ) he raced it a couple of weeks ago.
I will not hear a bad word about them.

I recall the complaint back then was they didn't sell because they were hard to start and to powerful.

The only drawback for me is the noise and how it pisses off non riders,it has closed tracks I'd reckon.

I second the statement about the start procedure. Once I figured it out, started every time first or second kick.
