I truly believe Herlings has the speed to beat anyone. I just don't understand his unwillingness to challenge himself. EVERYONE knows he can smoke the mx2 class. He's been the fastest rider in that class for many years. I mean can you imagine Roczen still riding the support class? Hell no! Can any of you Herlings supporters see Kenny still riding the 250 class? Then why do you defend this guy? In my opinion 30% of his wins are bullshit. In virtually all sports if your good enough you move up to the highest level and challenge yourself..but not Jeffrey. So honestly ask yourself, if Kenny was still in the 250 class without competion and winning by large margins would you call him a sandbagger? Who even wants to watch that class anymore when the few good riders move up or move to America and Jeffrey is still there beating the new guys each year? I would say the same thing about any rider who has dominated like Herlings and continues to take the easy road.

Actually I just watch him ride for the first time in the dutch national this last Sunday in markelo the Netherlands, it was quite impressive. Not that he is so much faster then the top 5 guys, at least not in the beginning, he he had anstie behind him that kept him honest for about 2laps, and that's when things start to change. He slowly starts to pull away, what most of these guys can do for a few laps, he does the whole race, ride wide open from start to finish. Explodes out of turns blasts down the straights at full power all moto long, when everything was said and done, anstie was half a lap down and the field wss lapped up to top ten, the guy is very strong physically and in top shape.
btw Covington put 2good rides, solid top fives.
I'm pretty sure he doesn't care much what a bunch of vitards think 5000 miles away about how he should manage his career.Wink

If he races mx2 in 2017 he should be required to wear a pink skirt.

It just sucks as a fan of the sport. MX1 could go from good to great with his presence on a 450. He can do whatever he wants, but I think the only ones getting the short end of this stick is us fans.

so you think Dungey should come to Europe to challenge himself or is it OK for him to keep on winning championships in the States?

I dont know if you've been paying attention, but Dungey has had lots of competition in his career. He's lost more championdhips than he's won while being healthy.

This. He's a champ, but he's also had competition every one of his titles and lost quite a few along the way. Not even close to the same thing.

What about Carmichael? He stayed and destroyed the same competition year after year, he never went after a new challenge

Herlings is actually training on a 450 midweek for a couple of weeks now, and is a few seconds a lap faster than a 250 on it. I am pretty sure guys like Febvre and Gajser are happy that he is still in mx2 at the moment..

He would have destroyed the field and made half as much money. He is the GOAT. Everts had nothing for him and that was the best you had at the time. Why post something everyone knows the answer to? Defend Herlings all you want but he is what he is. A PAB. Euros come to America and not the other way around and their is a reason. More money, more competition. Nothing to gain by leaving the best country in the world to visit shit boxes like Qatar. Your all-stars come to us willingly, we send our second string guys who can't find a ride to you. Think about it.

The best country in the world at what?

More money in supercross is the only reason riders from Europe leave to the US.
I'm pretty sure RV had a decent ride in the US. Covington as well.
Competition-wise the two series have been about equal for years...

I'd love to live in a shit box like that

He was taking on Reed, Stew and a bunch of guys who left the GPs to race a better series. Hardly ducking a challenge. The better question is why Everts never came here.

Crazy...the euro's tell us he is 2-3 seconds a lap faster on the 450, then defend him staying in the 250 class. Do you realize your proving our point?

Carmichael only rode a 125 for three years as Pro. Won his titles and moved up to the premier 250/450 class. The rest of the titles were facing the fastest competition in the world. He earned the title "GOAT" racing against this level competition. He had no place to "Move Up".

Same goes for Dungey.

That's not the case for Herlings.

Everts did go there on a couple of occasions. He tried his hand at SX, raced a national. Carmichael raced outside of his homeland what? 5 times in his career?

Didn't realise the 4 time reigning SX champ was a second string rider without a ride

Villopoto was at the end of his career and wanted to retire. He had already proved everything he needed to prove. Only big Monster money and the fact he had one year to go on his Kawi/Monster contract lured him to the GP's. They needed a top replacement rider quick after losing Paulin to HRC Honda.

That's not the same thing as a young & still hungry rider switching series.

Everts stayed where he did and won titles in the best possible category in his series.

Carmichael did the same.

RV won everything that he could here and went over to try his hand at another series, we all know how that went.

this isn't an AMA vs MXGP conversation and it shouldn't be skewed to be so.

Herlings is whooping everyone's ass for how many years now, and he's doing it when he CAN move up to a higher division. and in his interview he is basically saying that he's going to keep doing it next year.

that's the difference. if you want to play dumb then so be it.

comparing what Herlings is doing to Carmichael's career in the US has got to be the dumbest fucking thing i've read on here in a long time. that's just stinky troll bait. you're better than that.

LOL there was no challenge for RC outdoors, his challengers were in SX. Everts was no challenge for RC as they were in the same class for 5 gate drops, RC won everyone easily had a much faster lap every time and they were on unfamiliar tracks for RC. That would not have been a challenge, it would have been a cake walk.

Yeah he did. NASCAR. If you honestly believe anyone would have beat RC for a motocross championship then you're delusional. He was the best. Period.
