Kx 125 engine filled with water

Hello, 3 days ago i was driving and i stucked my dirtbike under water. I had a 3-4 hour long drive home but when i came home i removed the cylinder and the crank room was filled with watee , o drained it out and drained the gearbox and filled it with diesel over the night , next day i flushed the crankhouse alot of times with diesel so i got all the water out and cleaned cylinder and carburator. When i got the cylinder back together the engine started after only 4 kicks and runned fine ( alot of white smoke at start but it stoped smoking after 2-3 mins. But may the engine been damaged after this ? Since it was filled with water for so long ? Is there any noises i should hear for ? Im not really sure what noises are bad. I got no idea, but it sounds to me that the bike is okey, maybe you have taken some hours out of the bearings, maybe not... But tell me, how did you stuck your bike under water, that deep... Blink Huh

You should be ok, you really do not have to tear it down all the way to drain water

Hehe ther was a little water hole that didnt seem like it wasnt any deep, but i was totaly wrobg hehe , only the top of the steering was clear the water hehe.

you actually overkilled draining it. you'll be fine. the worst thing you have to worry about it corroded connections and such as being submerged it gets into everything. make sure to dialectic grease every connection there is.

I read before about turning a 2 stroke upside down with the spark plug removed... Put it in 2 or 3rd gear and turn
the motor over by manually turning the tire...

yup. rinse and repeat til she fires. once running, most stuff gets expelled. change fluids soon as you can.

If it's making a sound it didn't make before, tear it down. If it sounds the same, and there's no lose of power. I'd say she survived

I would be more worried about the water that you ingested not the bike, looks pretty dirty, and is that a fin sticking up to the left?

^^^I believe thats just a shadow from his helmet

All you really need to do is flip it upside down with the spark plug out and rotate the engine.

It's when they sit with the water still in the engine for a period of time that things start going bad. You caught it in plenty of time.

Bought an old PE175 Suzuki at a yard sale years ago. The guy had submerged it, and was not able to get it started for a couple of weeks, he said. It was running when I bought it, but there was an unmistakable growl / whine coming from the main bearings, as the rust had set in on them.

You did clean and re-oil the air filter, right ?

All good. Next time take plug out. Invert bike. Put in 3rd an slowly turn tire to expell water. Turn bike over, pour a bunch of gas in plug hole, Reinvert and repeat til you hear no more sandy sound. Then turn tire a bit more to expel all gas. Then put back together and keep riding. You will probably need to choke it.
