St. Louis attendance...

It was the lightest I have ever seen in STL.

Had me wondering which reason...

Start time of 1:30?
Cards game at 1:30 as well?
Blues playoff game the night before?
Cards game the night before?
Mumford and sons concert in town?


I think having a cards game at the exact same time was the deal breaker. Also, it would be interesting to see if anybody showed up at 5:00 to watch the race, but never looked at their tickets.

When I lived there and attended for so many years, it was always a solid 50,000 crowd.

My dad (who lives in MO, just outside STL), said it was terrible timing of the races with the Cards playing at the exact same time. Said he couldn't figure out why they set it up that way. I personally would take MX over baseball any day and twice on Tuesdays. But STL has some of the most loyal fans in all of MLB.

As far as I remember... only 96 was lighter, but then that was the first year in the dome and the MC industry was just starting to get fired up again from a lull.

While there was still a solid turnout, ya, I felt like it was down 20-30% from last year.

Btw, as I was hopping in my car to leave, I saw 3 guys getting out of their pickup all wearing moto shirt heading down to the dome. I told them they just missed the race and that Bubba won... LOL.

I would think the starting time may have more to do with it than anything. I don't think there's a huge crossover between MLB, NHL and supercross crowds.

I tried to get tickets to the NHL game Friday night...and we went to the MLB game instead.... and if there would have been a day MLB game with a regular start SX, I would have gone to both.

I would have, too. I'm a huge fan of basically all sports. I just know that most of the time other sports get brought up on here (not as much in non-moto) they get bashed and everyone seems to hate them.

Also... as an older family guy, I have to say I liked the earlier show. I also noticed a whole lot less drunk people at the race, which was nice.

Day race at Bristol has been down for years now. Attendance was actually up yesterday. Night race there will be packed out.

It looks like every race so far this year has been pretty light in attendance....from what I've noticed on TV anyway. I remember when all three Anaheim rounds would be packed. I'm wondering if the live broadcast for every round is one of the main factors for the low attendance.......

I didn't see the cup car but the day before for the busch cars there was hardly anyone there. I actually felt kind of bad for them.

It's not just motocross that's low on attendence. F1 this past weekend i think had 50,000 people but China had the capacity for probably twice that. The PWC was thin too. In Austrailia though....2015 Bathurst V8SC had 250,000 fans crowd those hills! Best 4 wheel racing on planet earth i think.

What will the chase format do to SX? Hurt or help?

I liked the day drinking at St. Louis, have a good dinner, then the main even races, then the bars afterwards. Good times when I was in my 20's and single.

The attendance has been constantly getting lighter in SX.
Maybe that's why the Feld Motorsports management has been reshuffled recently?

Haha!! Good question...probably the same it did for Nascar...nothing...The majority of the people that go to the races, any races be it SX, Nascar, Indy...whatever, they don't care about points or championships or chases, they are there for the show or the experience...

Yes, it was down, but for a day race there, the crowd was better than I had anticipated.
The pits were packed all day, even though they used one less hall, but it was a good show and when we left it was warm and sunny outside.
Was up at 5am to get there for track walk, but overall, I liked it.
Just wouldn't want to do that program every week, but a few a year would be ok.

I sat up in the 300s and it seemed pretty filled to me. Wasn't jam packed all around..but looked filled up. Nothing to be too concerned about.

The tickets were anywhere from like $60-150 for any kind of decent seat. It was a bit pricey. Pits were packed completely. Couldn't even move. Finally got so frustrated we just left the pits. I was standing outside of the Kawi truck trying to get MC to take a picture...but he was deep in convo with some tech guys.

AND Everything was there for a great Food City 500 race weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway except the crowds.
