Regardless if Jame's bike gernaded I think the way he handled the cameras and the post crash interview was very unprofessional. I am not sure what journalistic purpose was served by immediately trying to interview someone who just augered into the ground, but not only as one of the top riders in the sport, but as a modern motocross icon his conduct on camera was unbecoming. When he was asked what happened? His curt response was "Crash". He made no eye contact with the camera, the interviewer or anyone else and his subsequent storming back to the pits casted the appearance of a juvenile racer and not a seasoned veteran who has DNF'd before.

I know it is easy to sit on the sidelines and complain, but his behavior was innappropriate at minimum. This type of poor sportsmenship casted a shadow over not only himself, but over one of the last domains of true sportsmenship: motocross. In other sports where the monetary stakes are higher like nascar when a racer crashes or car breaks a spectator can see the despair on the racers face, but he or she at leasts addresses the camera and questions asked. James should have handled that dissapointment better as it reflects poorly on the sport and himself.

I have read on this board somewhere that says "SHOW ME A GOOD LOSER AND I WILL SHOW YOU A LOSER"

Under the circumstances I think he handled himself well. Oh yea, your an idiot.

First off to the dummy that posted this, I guess you don't watch NASCAR huh? Tony Stewart flying off the handle after a wreck, calling other drivers idiots? Emotion happens in every sport.

Secondly, I don't have a problem with any of it. Erin interviewing him, his answer, none of it. She is there to interview, she did her job, he gave her an honest answer. You guys are making a big deal out of nothing.

Quit holding athletes to a higher standard, they are just people and sometimes you get a answer you don't agree with. For you to slam him and his professionalism, makes me wonder if you have ever competed in anything before in your life.

By the way, I'm not even a James fan.

w.w.b.d.? Bob hannah would have answered by saying I screwed up and laughed it off
erin gave him time to pick up his bike and take out windham...how much time does he need to pull himself together? I would have pushed the mic in his face while he was kicking his bike and asked him why it wouldn't start.Thats how I roll...lol

Erin is beginning to feel a little too at home. Most likely she's reading her glowing reviews on Vital.

She seemed to me to think she is now a part of the action as opposed to the person assigned to report on it. Asking Dungey about "smack talk" with JLaw?

Cover the race in your set interview slots and ease up on the opinion pieces. Those are for monday morning.

That said, I'm guessing this is more a fishing expedition than a serious rant.

I thought it was kewl to see James pissed at making a mistake and what that mistake may cost him... Who would not be a little wound up to be lying in the dirt at the first race.

I do find the media in our sport to be getting a little more BS these days.... I mean making a big deal about a rider wanting to terminate a clothing deal because his "Arch Rival" was in the same shit.... Who F'n cares if they are acting like babies... I tune it to see racing and dont care if there is rider drama.....

Oh yeah.... TV needs more boobies!

Erin Bates is qualified to be the pit reporter on national TV coverage like Punky Brewster is qualified to be nominated for an Academy Award.

She (and Speed) are lucky they didn't get what James really wanted to say at that time. Guy gets knocked semi-conscious and has to answer some dimwit chick about "what happened?".

in my 8 years of racing there were several times i was taken out, most of the time, it wasnt my fault.

one time i was on the starting line, lurched out front, and taken out by a guy who was 5 lanes over. to this day i still hate his guts, (because i feel he is an idiot) and when i was announcing later on, i would bareley mention his name.

one time, while in the mini class, i went over to another mini dad and gave him a piece of my mind.

all these time when i felt i was wronged, if someone would have stuck a microphone in my face, i would have cursed a blue streak that would have embarressed my ex navy chief dad.

all i had was a plastic trophy on the line. james has a whole lot more.

anytime you are in the lead and get taken out (missed gear or anything else not withstanding) you are not going to be happy about it. i do speak from personal experience

sx is a whirlwind circus held in a space not much bigger than your front and back yard combined. things happen kind of fast

in summary, he handled it as well as anyone, a true champion. the young man is maturing. i actually gained more respect for him showing some verbal restraint and admitting he made an error.
anybody able to count all the "I" s in this post? Very telling
