Ha, I know, remember a few years ago at Millville or Red Bud when Reed was out front and his chain broke, then he tossed his bike down and stormed back to the pits. I think it was that same year I was at Budds and his bike stalled on the practice lap and he had to walk back to the gate - and that was when the gate was up on the top of the hill. It was so hot that day and man he was pissed off.

All things being the same (equal equipment), I truly believe Stewart is the fastest rider on the face of the earth. But, to be a great rider you need to be able to set-up your bike. Stewart had sooo many years on the Kawi, it was a process of refinement. Now he's on a totally new bike with new people trying to help him dial it in. Had he kept the old people, I think the process would go a bit quicker, as they would know what he expects / likes. He has a long road ahead of him, given enough time & support, I think he'll get it to where he was on the Kawi.

You know, there's also the RC factor. I bet RC has given him some tips for the bike that were invaluable. And even though RC isn't in race shape on the bike, I'm sure he pushed him a little in that racerx vid at chad's track where chad was passing him. Passing RC is always good for the confidence.

I'm not a big Grant fan,but I give him props. I'd cry too. Nothing wrong with being overwhelmed with a positive outpouring of emotion,IMO. And as for the bike? I remember that "Bobby, get me outa this contract!" or something like that. Rookie season his seat fell off, yz 250 gearbox locked up here in Aus, Daytona ... bike quit, boggs that started his season with a dislocated shoulder one season put him in hospital the next plus all the ones that have already been mentioned, he sure has had a rough road on those things BUT he still walks away champ.

Chad has RC as Suzuki test rider plus the team has a few years set up history they can use as a reference. All riders set up differently but if you had to ask anyone for advice on changing the characteristics of a race bike then Ricky would be at the top of my list.

Having said that L & M know what set up won the championship last year!

The difference is time on the bike, a lot of people slagged Chad for racing the Aussie SX, but time racin is better than time testing no matter who the competition is.

And Corpse, you have the life expectancy of a used tampon, good luck with that.

Again,

James is not a very good at setting up his bike. That's why they hired Ferry to work on testing and set up.

Honestly, Kawi didn't expect Ferry to do so well but the hired him for his testing abilities.

i am sorry but I don't think in the 35 some odd years or rideing /racing I ever have heard someone say "wow that yamaha cuts a great inside line"....... Yamaha's for years have been known to be straightline machines.

and as for the starting of a pos 4 stroke. looks like the EFI stuff rocks. and the carb's? well they have sucked for many years. Windham's bike didn't just rocket off when he kicked it, I think that one took awhile to.

What I thought was cool is that Chad didn't "settle" after being passed. he crashed because he was being aggressive trying to pass James back.

I don't think the "crash" was anything more then good ole racing. Little misjudgement and boom your on your ass, done that front wheel back wheel deal a few times easy to do. no blame either way shit happens.

He can only be pissed at himself and his family/camp.

Either way, he should realize that all he can do now is work to make the bike better and be smart the rest of the series. He can still afford seconds, or evevn thirds depending on the situation, while they get the bike sorted out.

Dungey's a crybaby cause he bitched out over a non-racing incident about clothes and wearing the same one's as j-law. Stewart's not a crybaby for the reasons you mentioned: it's a racing incident which requires emotions like heart and dedication... which is precisely why Josh Grant is definately not a "crybaby" either.

If I didn't, I was pissed. I had fits, threw stuff and sweared at people that I probably shouldn't have on more than one occasion. I thought that James demonstrated great reserve and poise by not going off the handle in view of the public. He has the right to be pissed and if the above scenario happened, then he did it in the right place. Just my $.02.
Good post. The difference between the best riders like RC,Stewart and Reed is they want to win at all cost. That's all they know and what they expect. Otherwise they would be like K.W with the there always next week or next yr frame of mind.

Some guys are trying to earn ther money and some are just stealing it. Heck, Other than Andrew short Honda has 3 riders stealing money.

Dungey will be fine sponsor wise. What he did was bring Jlaw straight into his professional life. Ryan needs to win this west title this winter. If he falls short and Jaw gets wins it Dungey might be damaged goods from that point on because the mold will be out there on how to beat him.

Dungey just needs to calm down and quit being intense for the sake of being intense IMO.

You didn't see Stewart's bike hopping?

The track looked a bit rougher than usual, the rear suspension on Stewart's bike wasn't absorbing it that well. Lots of bumps within the ruts on the turns, the second Stewart got on the gas in a turn, the back end was hopping all over the place.

Reed was cutting to the inside allot, the ruts weren't as deep, looked really smooth for him.
