I get released from the first cardiac arrest after 5 days; given instructions/appt w/cardiology. Ejection fracture(measure of heart efficiency) was 30%. Around half to less than normal. No one could figure out diagnosis. Released anyways; prob insurance.

Exactly two weeks later, the second arrest came, got resuccitated again, off to the same hospital.

On the next to last of a 14 day stay this time, the head of cardiology came in to say this long after I knew the diagnosis when I woke up on the 6th day, second event, so 20 days later:

"We found out what caused your first cardiac event"....







"Right after you left the hospital the first time".....

Two weeks from the time I left until I returned; guess the phone wasn't invented.....mail service must've been by snail.....even though at the time the hospital for fortunately for me only couple blocks away...

Still can't believe not one contact to treat me properly instead let another event happen.

Almost comical.

I know they save a lot too, but I think one of the largest killers in this country are small hospitals. I just was notified that a girl I went to school with died (35 y/o) from complications from a surgical error. She laid there for days filling up with gangrene before being taken to a larger medical center that discovered she was septic. It was too late. Sucks. I hadn't kept up with her, but you can tell from reading her social network pages that she was a great, vibrant young person that everyone loved & cherished.

Glad you made it through their error in not sending someone after you.

They do save many more than in yrs. past. Treatment protocols that I've seen over the years have vastly improved. Sorry to hear of your former classmate. I've gotten back with what started with 2, now has grown to 8 of my old friends; most all ex-MXers from grade school knowing nothing is for certain.....I have days where depression overwhelms.....

Thanks for sharing your story nc. That's where this site and all my family/friends helps and I wish all nothing but the best of health to all.

I've been experiencing some sharp chest pain in the last month to month and a half or so. It comes and goes. When it comes, it happens about once every 15-30 minutes or so, and does it throughout the day. The first time it happened it really caught me by surprise and hurt like a motherfucker. The pain typically lasts anywhere from 2-4 seconds and is then gone. It's on the right side of my chest though, so I never really thought too much of it being anything serious.

Anxiety my friend. I could write a book on chest pain from anxiety. Nothing quite as refreshing as feeling like you are having a heart attack, 75% of your awake life, for 5 frikkin years. It is getting better though.... lol

Wow, quite the thread going on here.

I'm due to have an echogram on Monday, mainly for family history reasons. No real symptoms, although IBS can hit high sometimes, it seems. I think that's what it is.

andymoto, hope things work out for you down the road. The cardio guy here recommended one of those fibrilator things to my mother last week, she had a valve replacement in April. Now she's all nervous and stressed about that. He threw a 30% number at her too. She's 73, taking meds for an enlarged heart that seem to be slow in doing their thing.

Ya never know what's coming at you around the next corner in this thing we call life...

I miss those I've lost to heart attacks, and "chest pains"... and for the sake of those around you - you should really have just shut the fuck up and went to the hospital. Hey asshat, if you knew how to read you'd know I already went to the doc. I don't have to justify to you or anybody how quickly I get it checked out. If it frustrates you so badly that I asked people on here if they'd had this experience, why fucking post on here at all? andymoto, ncdirtrider, Im sorry for your losses. I never realized how many people, especially within the moto community, were affected by heart related illnesses.

ns503, my best thoughts and wishes go out to you and your mother. I hope that she can overcome the obstacles in front of her.
