To the people who don't like California please don't come here. We really don't want you here.
If you move to HB or NB It is about a 45 min drive to LAX with out traffic. Factor in traffic at different times and it could be 2 to three hours depending. I just did a drive from Wilshire to MB on a fri. afternoon that took 2.5 hrs. Realfun! Temecula would kill you. It has grown so fast that traffic over there is horrendous by itself. The 91 is death during commute times. If you can always work at off times to lax then it would maybe work but I would not do it.

I have heard Temecula is not the same little sleepy town in the IE it used to be :D Damn, don't know what to do...i guess i'll just have to take a field trip out to Cal. and see for myself.

It's about 45 minutes from my house in HB to LAX, granted it's cargo hours.....

Can take close to 1.5 hours if you get called during peak hours...

What airline?

Newport Beach is full of 20-30 somethings and has plenty of rooms for rent, so does Huntington Beach. Both have good night lifes and as mentioned 1 hr or so commute to LAX on the 405. Areas of Costa Mexico are OK too, but keep in mind the Mexico comment. Laguna Niguel is further south but the area is very nice, and some apartments aren't as pricey as some beach cities. But you're still probably looking at $1k + rent for a 1 bedroom. MX tracks from the OC beach cities and general OC area are 40 min - 2 hrs depending on your drive distance. Laguna Niguel area is removed from the "concrete jungle". I really like Dana Point, Laguna Niguel area - that's why I chose to live here. I'm single and although it's not as exciting as Newport or Huntington you can go there in 20 - 40 minutes. Lots of surf spots here and closeby mtn bike trails. And just more laid back and not as much traffic. All of the rolling hills make it more scenic too.

mxAv8r if you can get on hopper flights then you can go any where. Just pick an airport near by. I know lots of pilots here in NB that fly out of LAX. Rent is an issue if you want your own situation with a garage for moto storage. Twizzlers option is good, look at Lake Forrest area. Bottom line traffic is an issue everywhere now. I was born and raised here, so were my parents and one set of grand parents. It's just not what it was but my roots are deep. I am sitting here looking at my pool and getting ready for a swim. It is already warm now, 72* because we have a dark gray bottom. That is why so many people came in the 50's, 60's and so on. So when people start ragging on Californians, they really need to realize most are not from here. And the North/South thing is also the same, most of them are not from there or are from down here. So just STFU!!!

Hey, fcr.

I'm 3rd generation CA, too.

My grand parents on both sides came here in the early 1900s, as little kids.

Things have changed a lot, just in my life time, but I still can't imagine living anywhere else.

I've spent time in lots of the states, and they all have their plusses and minuses.

When all's said and done, it doesn't get any better than this.

So Geezer, you in YL? Did you ride there as a kid? Lots of places back then. Did you go to any of the InterAM's or Tans AMA's at Saddleback? We used to go enmass in vans with false bottoms, didn't have the 5 dollars to get in or whatever it was. Sat and talked with the camera guys with On any Sunday when they were filming. We are in there somewhere on that corner that Robert was taking up the hill. Used to love the CMC series back then. Had to finance it myself so my race career was short but furious.
Yeah it has changed too much though. I just can't see myself else where also. We are moving from the OC soon though back to where my wife is from, in North County. Her parents need attention and I am retiring early. Getting acres inland from Leucadia. We need more space as we get older. I want to ride on my own property and my wife wants her horses in our yard. Good hearing from you.
Sorry to go off subject.

Yes, I'm in YL, a few blocks from Dick Nixon's house.

I grew up in Garden Grove, spent my formative years in Fullerton, and moved here when I had kids.

My part of YL is a lot like GG was back in the day (still a lot of agriculture, and free avacados growing everywhere.)

I did go to the trans AMA at Saddleback, but we didn't have a false-bottom van, so we went to Irvine park and rode our Stingrays in. :D

For a few years in the 70s, I raced CMC at Saddleback and Racing World/Escape Country, and did High School Motocross at OCIR.

Had my first beer with my dad at Cooks Corner, on the way home from Escape Country when I was 17.

Those were some good times.

Did you go to GGHS? Remember the Marks girls? Cheerleaders, tried getting in their pants all the time. Didn't have the game then like I do now. Ha! Their little brother was my best friends, little brother's special friend. They didn't know it at the time but they were gay. Good guys though. I thought it was funny, we were using them to get at the sisters. We were trash though, we were from Fontana. It scared them. Also met some other girls later in 74 that were from there. Two sisters that were gorgeus. Older one was married and I .... nevermind. Been here in NB since late 73. Off time for school in LA.
I know your area, nice out there. Played a few rounds out at the CC. Black Gold also. Don't like it so much though. Good talking at ya.
