Why is it that so many companies in this industry have the absolute WORST customer service? Right now I have two $700+ exhaust systems trashed, not completely by any means I just need parts to make both of them good as new. Problem is getting those parts has turned into a month long process from hell, and I don't even know if I'm getting them! For one exhaust system, manufacturer A we'll say, I have a perfect full system, no dings in the header or muffler but the mid-pipe is absolutely waffled (it was given to me this way). So all I need is a mid-pipe and that exhaust system will be just like new(with literally 5hrs time on it before the guy wadded it up).
My other one I ran all last season with, manufacturer Bs top of the line exhaust system retailing nearly $800. The headpipe where it meets the header wore down to an uneven surface, allowing for a bad leak when the motor is revved up the slightest bit. I feel this is a manufacturers defect and should be warrantied(and it might be if I ever hear back from the guy). On the other end of the system the end cap has a 99db insert that started rattling like crazy, although the set screw was tight. I tried taking the set screw out but it was seized to the insert so I ended up drilling it out and damaging both pieces not to bad but I would rather just replace them both so it looks good.
I have spoken with the warranty guy at Manufacturer A probably 10 times and each time he gives me some reason why he hasn't gotten something for me. I will pay! I am not being mean to them or anything, and I am not asking for handouts I just want to make this exhaust system usable.
Manufacturer B is a slightly different deal, since I'm "sponsored" by them I have to deal with the rider support guy, which to me should make things easier. Well this guy is impossible to get a hold of and doesn't return phone calls. I have gotten a hold of him twice, the first time was great he made it sound like he would have me my parts pronto. And was supposed to call me back with a total and when they would be ordered. Well he never called, so I gave him a couple days and called back several times with no answer, left messages, nothing. Eventually I got through to him and he said , didn't we order those? I am pretty sure they are ordered let me call into the office and see what the deal is.. First off, shouldn't he know what the deal is? Second I haven't heard back from him and can't get him to answer his phone. I am giving him the benefit of doubt because this is a big two weeks in texas and he very well could be there dealing with those guys and I am fine with that, I just feel like I am getting the run around.
I have left the Manufacturer's names out of this for now, I always give the benefit of doubt thinking maybe something really did come up.(Why does it always come up with me though?!?) And when I feel for sure these guys are just pushing me under the rug I will call them out.
All I know is that when I have a problem with a product from Wal-Mart, Best Buy etc.. I usually have a functional product back to me in hours.... days max. Even with BMX parts, or Car parts at least in my experience. Why is this industry soooo bad when it comes to Customer Service? Or am I on some list somewhere that says to give me the run around for months?

Yep, after dealing with MRD, I will never by another poor fitting PC or FMF again. The MRD also carries a lifetime replace/repair warranty that also includes crash damage. Let's see, 20% less up front, installs perfectly, looks and perform great and if I crash it or if something fails, it is repaired or replaced quickly and with a smile for as long as I own the bike. I don't know why anybody would consider anything but an MRD pipe.

My son has a MRD pipe, fits well and performs well. They even updated it with a different end cap and repacked it for free when it was over a year old. Good service is hard to find, and it sure makes you appreciate the ones who step up to the plate.
Are you "sponsored" directly through the rider rep or is it a "regional shop" deal? I would try calling the road rep to see if he can help you. If its the rider support guy, most likely he is down in texas as you said and is totally pinned right now. Maybe he would respond to the "local" rep if he is willing to help you out.
I havent used a MRD.
I called the tech department and they told me they do not sell mid-pipes only and that the only thing they could do is see if the warranty department had one that came back. So I have been dealing with the warranty guy, who the last I have heard said he was having one made for me.
The one company I got the pipe directly through them, so the dealer I ride for wouldn't be able to help me out there. With the other company, they also tried but got told they could not help them because they don't sell just mid-pipes, so I called up and was able to get a little further and just kept going with it.

I believe it is the rider rep, I guess I could try to get the road reps number from somebody at the company.
I would go try Rocket again, but funds for a new system now, especially since I have 3/4 of two systems sitting in my shop.

Shoulda got a 2 stroke.
Plus their pipe really made a great difference on my bike.
I don't even know what they do nowadays...if they do?
Pit Row
I also talked to the rider rep from Company B he said he put the order into the "office" and they were supposed to call me and let me know totals and stuff like that. He said he would call them and bug them again, but he made it sound like it was out of his hands at that point..
As for Noleen, I haven't heard anything about them in a long time.
You'd be surprised just who reads motodrive.......
Prime example - My friendly local dealer had a parts kid who made Jessica Simpson look smart - didnt know crap about anything and really didnt care to, either. But Dude knew someone in the industry, left his job and now is the VP of sales for a big name in MX hard parts.
[u:2j81t0j9]Those[/u:2j81t0j9] are the kinds of guys handling customer service.
Company "B" I still have no idea whats going on there. Apparently there was a problem with my order and the rider rep was supposed to take care of it. I guess we'll see...
I called Company B (Yoshimura) early this week to see why I still haven't gotten any parts or even a return phone call... No answer so I left a message like usual, and like usual I got no reply. Well yesterday I recieved a box from Yoshimura with a brand new head pipe, end cap and insert free of charge! I was very surprised. Sucks it took so long on both companies but atleast in the end they both made things right. So good on them.
Also FMF on their warranty work
I run DrD, FMF or PC (which ever is free)...I have never had a single problem...I got a small dent in the head pipe of my DrD RMZ250 exhaust, and within two days had a replacement. Made a call to FMF for a CRF450 muffler bracket crack, had a replacement in a week. Took my PC to Corona (Pro-circuit) because it was cracking, was given a replacement.
If a product is good enough to sell, it's good enough to buy back...unless you are buying crap, nobody wants it back.
Pro Circuit Ti-4 full system.
