told me 1 thing. except James, RC still has everyone else covered on a SX track. Did anyone have a stopwatch on him for the laps he did? I bet he was the fastest man on the track last night. He looked awesome

Although I went to last year's ATL SX (one of the best sx races I've been to) I wasn't able to make it this year. I didn't see anything on CBS' coverage, which was stupid on their part, but does anyone know whether speed will have video of RC, or maybe youtube? I think it goes without saying that seeing Ricky on his 'ol Makita 2 smoker is almost as (or dare I say more?) exciting as the supercross race itself.

It was kinda funny to me. RC did about 2 laps, and then Reed joined him on the hot lap. It looked like RC wanted to race with Reed, but Reed was having none of that and pulled off after about 3/4 of a lap. RC kept going and did another lap.

Probably because he doesn't [i:3t5lntvn]have[/i:3t5lntvn] to ride a 4 stroke anymore.

According to the AMA times RC layed down the second fastest lap of the day when he did his practice laps on the track in the afternoon.
It was awesome seing him whip that two banger around.

It's amazing. He came right out and was whipping the 2 stroke over the big triples like it was no big deal. He looked fast and so smooth. He should still be racing but that's not my decision to make. :D

You know all this reminiscing about 2 strokes is really bittersweet. I've raced four stokes since the introduction of the first 2001 Yamaha 250F and currently race a Suzuki RMZ250... lucky for me I have two really nice friends who let me spin some laps on their 05 rm125 and 06yz125, two really fun bikes with crisp motors. It's truly sad to see the last few brands of 125s die off.

Don't come out here with that information...
the 4-stroke cum guzzlers will be along any moment to tell you that the 2-stroke is old, outdated, underpowered, and can't keep up with a 4-banger.

I got some vid of RC's hot laps I will be posting later. I am still recovering from a wide-open trip to Atlanta!
The crowd went nuts for RC. They pretty much worship him here. I didn't think he rode all that fast, but buttery smooth on that 2-stroke!

If I had transponder duty, I'd have made SURE one was on. Just for the heck of it. He did sit at the gate for a while before making laps.

In practice eariier in the day (between the two practice sessions) he came right out and jumped everything. In about three laps he did charge hard and make about two race speed type laps. His timing wasn't spot on as he over jumped a few things bottoming the forks on that two-banger. He was fast though. Second fastest? Not sure about that. I do think he could have finished on the podium if he's in good enough shape to run 20 laps at the pace he ran in practice.

The laps he made in the night show weren't quite as fast as in practice. I know one thing for sure. That two-stroke had some grunt. It sounded soooo good.

No way were his lap times competitive. He was just joyriding! He wasn't even pushing it, he was waving to the crowd.
The sickest thing was the finish line double right out of a turn. He was blipping it no problem. And the 2-stroke sound was heaven. I have a feeling that made the crowd cheer louder.

one thing is for sure, what ever is left in stock of RM 250's will be all but gone if he continues to show up and ride around on it. As seen in this post and all the 2 vrs 4 debates that go on, he and others (normal everyday riders) have prefrences and would have likely not changed bike types back in the day weren't for OEM and or rules changes facilitated for them.

For the adverage weekend vet rider/racer it doesn't make much diference. Change the oil every two rides and you more than likely will never have a problem. But if you do have a propblem then the smoker is way cheaper to fix.

I ride my smoker just for the sound of it.

I'm not talking about the parade lap I'm talking about the afternoon practice laps he did.

As far as the likelyhood of him having a transponder on all I can say is although I did not physically inspect the bike
I heard it first hand that they had lap times on him.
"Only guy with a quicker lap on the track is Chad" is how I believe it was put.

I still wanna see James Stewart quit the big bike class, ride a 125 kawi outdoors, kawasaki would probably pay hime more money to due that, more people would come out hahaah If somehow two strokes where competive, and theres no way im riding a pumkin, there would be no hesitation to jump on a 2 smoker and due the doubles

As a 2 stroke fan and owner it was sad to me to see how much tougher that track was for RC on a 250 smoker compared to the unfair advantage lesser riders have on the 450's.
But then I'm old and bitter. <img class= " title="Smile">
