We know people who live down there and they went skiing in the Sierras instead with all the fresh snow.
Or they could have went dirt biking in the mountains or wakeboarding or any number of things.
Stamp it!
The Anaheim races always did well until a few years ago when the ticket prices went from $50/60 to the current $90/100. I went to my first Anaheim in 1977 and always went every year until this year.
You get a tad "jaded" when you have been to 50 or so SX's.
Santa Clara was on the light side for sure. I just look at it as lots of elbow room.
Let's see, 17 a year x how many more years?
250 main 1
450 main 1
250 main 2
450 main 2
You look at the outdoors-2 mains each for points. It should be the same thing IMO.
But there is absolutely no need for semis..maybe just eliminating those would help a lot.
But I also think the chase format is the dumbest thing since the "lites" word. Why even care the first half if your points get robbed? Absolute joke.

I went to Arena cross because I was in the Ontario area and it was only $20 per ticket. A1 cost me $90 per ticket for 200 section. Petco Park was $65 per ticket. (Nose bleeds at Anaheim are $55 so comparing that to St. Louis, Atlanta, Houston, etc. is difficult.) That's a prime ticket at other events.
If FELD wanted to sell out the stadiums every week they would drop ticket prices to reasonable amounts, bring back the $10 tickets for kids and sell/donate blocks of unsold tickets to the local military base and let the troops come watch or local boy scouts etc. If you want to grow the sport, people need to see it in person and enjoy it. When San Diego 1 was empty (the second round of the season when excitement is still supposed to be high) they should have went down to 32nd Street Naval base and given some of the troops free tickets and at least made it seem like the event was packed. San Diego 2 a month later (normal SD supercross date) was almost sold out. So that was strange.
However I do agree that the top riders need to be on the track more. Making the heat races longer again might help. Or take less from the Heat races, add another qualifier race besides the semi, so if you aren't in the top 2, then you continue to race a quarter final. That way the best riders are on the track more.
Or go with an opposite style of qualifying, knock out qualifying. A series of two sets of 20 riders race a heat of 4 laps, the back 5 are sent to the LCQ. Then 15 riders race another Heat of 4 laps. Back 5 are sent to the LCQ. The Top 10 riders race another 4 laps and the back 5 are sent to a 10 rider qualifier moto to determine the 10-20th gate picks. Then each Top 5 race for gate pick to solidify the top 10. An LCQ with the 20 dropped riders gives 2 riders the last chance to make the top 22 just in case a top rider has a major issue and cant make the cutoff point. Then a Main event with 22 riders. But the top guys are on the track for 36 laps instead of 26. And we get more meaningful gate drops with the best riders in the world on the track instead of the privateers. And the Main Event still is a singular focus.
Maybe even 2 15 lap mains if they are short lap times.
