Well here it is, the KTM SXF 450 Factory Edition 2016

Posted this in the race shop forum but figured I'd give it a go in here. Just picked up my FE and was curious about how to get a service manual? Anyone know?

Does anyone know where the yellow cold start button on the 16 fe 450 should be in basic position? I pushed the cold start button in until it clicked and shows that it's activated. You can still push it in further little more as it is spring loaded. The temp was right around 67 degrees. The bike ran great and all but after riding for about 10 or 15 minutes I stopped to rest it. I'm breaking in the bike. I noticed that the cold start button was still pushed in, I could pull the cold start knob down and it clicked, I guess that is deactivated per the manual. I went out again, but this time I started the bike and ran it with the cold start knob pulled out until it clicked. Is that where you should run the bike when it's over 68 degree, knob all the way out until it clicks? I thought that if it was pushed in it was suppose to return the the basic setting after it warms up. thanks

It should be in the out position to ride. You should only have to push it in when engine is cold. When it starts pull it back out. Shouldn't have to use it rest of day. It will release(or supposed to) on its on when you chop throttle hard. Easier to just pull it back out. You can check how the auto release works by pushing it in and without starting bike, turn throttle wide open and let go, you can see the knob pop back out then
Hey thanks For the info B-Evans

Anybody out there running the FasterUsa wheel sets with the orange hubs? i was wondering if the orange was a good color or off looking color? I"ve had Talon Carbon's and regular Talons, no Kite's but they all seem to be made out off the same material, just the name and importing them seem to jack the price up.
I'm using Faster USA wheels and have been for the past 2 seasons. Their orange is spot on and they make their hubs in house in CA and are one of the very few wheel company's that use double bearings on the drive side of the rear and you can use your stock bearings and spacers too. They'll build them any way you want. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed. I'll post a pic of the wheels later on when I get home.

Is the full Akrapovic system noticeably better than only the slipon that comes on the bike?

Just in time for riding tomaro! Been a while since I was this excited to ride a new bike! What are some of the first things you guys did b4 your first ride? Looks like I will raise forks to level out chassis as per mxa, set the air fork to standard pressure, remove spark arrester from muffler, check all fasteners, add gas & start the break in procedure. I was so excited at the shop I forgot to order a skid plate!

Ok, to those who have removed spark arrester from silencer....do I have to removed end cap & rivets or will it pull out with just removing the 1 bottom Allen bolt?

Just remove the allen bolt. The insert was very tight on mine and had to use vise grips on it to pull out. Don't have to remove end cap. I put the rubber plug back in the bolt hole. Removing insert makes a significant difference in power and response but it will be louder, on the level of an fmf(or stock kawasaki)

Don't have a comparison. I never rode the bike with the stock exhaust.

Wondering if someone can help me out, I removed allen bolt from Akro system but had difficulties removing the spark arrestor. I managed to get it out but i damaged it in the process and threw it out. Before i chucked it i forgot to weigh it. I know this is fairly nitpicky but I'm doing a lightweight project with my new F.E. and want to be accountable of all weight. (I'm just slightly odd haha) can anyone who has removed the spark arrestor give me a weight for it? Thanks in advance..

Thanks B-Evans: It came out fairly ez for about an inch, then it got hard & I stopped, don't want to butch up a brand new bike! I"ll keep trying to work it out, I won't be trail riding this thing.

Rode my bike today for the first time, on a fast, rough.sand track, got exactly 1.0 hr on the meter. Bike rips, just short shifting it, taking it ez for the first few hrs, but o/all first impressions are really good. I ran the 156psi in the fork, worked good in the sand but felt pretty stiff, maybe loosen up some with time? Shifter a little higher than my Xc 300, I may move it down a spline. Otherwise, I can't imagine needing more power, gearing spot on, handling is excellent. I have ridden my 13 crf 450 at this same track many times & the Ktm motor is much more responsive & stronger than my Honda & my Honda had a pipe, cam, piston, head work, & remap. Have not even set sag on the Ktm, likely got broken in somewhat today with the large sand whoops. This is my first Ktm 4 stroke, what is the oil change routine? Do you guys take all the screens & bolts out for every oil change?

I would change the oil, oil filter right away and clean the screens. Just incase there's metal particles from the build.

But after my first change, I do every 3 rides, 4-6 hours. I change my oil filter and clean the screens every other oil change.

rode a friends 16 fe 450 today at cal city mx park.....without a doubt the best 450 I have ever rode.....light, turns unbelievable and was just a blast to ride! I also rode a 2016 yz450f today....the ktm is far superior....the yami fork is better than the aer 48 but not by much! I wish I could afford to pick one up right now ....lol

You can get spark arrester away just putting bolt upper side of same hole and pull with 2-stroke spring tool at same time hittin tool up n down. My question has anyone removed mesh/screen from inside of silencer? If you look there is this another screen half way in.
Anyone worked with rear shock setup from stock? Felt initial damping was too much and didnt have enough rebound damping when hitting braking bumps/rollers and rear end was kicking up. I was in first hours so didnt ride full speed but this was my first feeling of shock. Went to 45 spring at first place as my 165lbs weight wasnt enough for stock spring.

Yeah I thinks pretty common that the rear shock is rebounding fast. I know when Factory Connection did my revalve they helped slow it down a bit. Have you gone in on the rebound clicker yet?

The inner mesh is a very minimal spark arrester. Not made to come out as it's built into the widest part of the core. You can rattle it loose and will be able to slide it back and forth roughly 6 inches in the exhaust or so. But it is much too wide to be pulled out of the exhaust hole as its machined with a taper to make that impossible. I'm sure you will be able to get it out once you open up the exhaust for repacking which is what I plan on doing.

I got mine out with a little patience, no damage. I"ll see if I can find a gram scale & weight it for you. My triple beam scale days are long over!

Thanks CarlinoJoe. Always good idea to do a quick first oil change to remove any castings or debris from the initial running. Don't know what I was thinking when I picked bike up from the dealer, did not even get an oil filter! Guess I just wanted to get her home to start prep for riding!

That's a good question. I told them 2016 so I assume that's what they were. I do like how they added the blue on the left side to break up some of the white. The orange is a little off but you have to be looking for it in order to tell I used n-style. Who did yours?
