Matthes, that was an awesome podcast. Rob seems like such a normal dude that really enjoys talking moto. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to his stories. I highly recommend everyone to listen to it. Nice work, Steve.

I've not heard the podcast, but I can vouch he is very genuine. One of the nicer guys I have known.

His name is not Vanilla Ice. Rob Van Winkle is solid folk and he still loves motocross.

He had no clue who I was and went out of his way to hold an elevator for me at the Roger's Centre a few years back. Genuine guy.

Awesome!

MotoSmith & I met him in an elevator at the Hilton Suites by Angel stadium at A1 back in 2001 I believe.
It was on a Friday ,he was racing the crossover challenge and jacked up his wrist.
He was super friendly & cool to us.
The guy loves MX.

No way he would have held the door if he knew who you were...

I used to see him at a local track often (Pepsi Air Dania) he rode good. One time I had a wicked crash there and he was the first one to run out on the track and help me up, push my bike back to the pits and help straighten my handlebars.
Very cool cat.

I can't find it either. I would love to listen to it. I enjoyed watched some of his house restoration shows. I can't remember the name of that show at the moment.

Rob (Vanilla Ice) was sitting a few rows behind us at the Atlanta Supercross. He was at the top row of the lower level sitting next to a dude in a wheelchair. I think it was a fan & he stopped to talk to him for a bit. A few other people asked for pics & Rob seemed really cool about it. I think it made him happy that people recognized him & we're excited to get pics with him. My wife wanted a pic with him so I went up to him, tapped him on the shoulder & said "hey Rob, my wife really wants a pic with you, do you mind?" He was like "hell yea, forsure". He's like "give me the phone, I got it". He snapped he pic, we spoke a few words & that was it. But he was so cool. Just a regular dude that loves moto like the rest of us. He ended up talking to the dude in the wheelchair a few more minutes & walked down to the bottom row to sit back in his seat. I'm 36, my wife is 30, so this dude was someone we grew up listening to in our younger days. It was cool to meet an icon like that. Thanks Rob!

Ps: I wonder if he at least lurks around here?

He does a great job on his DIY network show.

I'm a fan of his show and always knew he was into moto.. but my lord, the amount of names he kept dropping on the podcast was insane. I had no idea that he's apparently like besties with so many moto community A-listers. Like it literally sounded like he could be spending Easter having brunch at Mitch Payton's, then attending the McGrath family reunion. Seriously though, for as dialed into the scene that he apparently is (?) I'm surprised we don't see more of him around the sport.

That was a good interview. He seems like a fun guy to be around. It would probably be fun working on his house restoration crew.

Great listen. Genuine guy, very into moto and grateful for the life he has led.

I recall when he was on the surreal life that he came accross like a normal good guy (same goes for Carey Hart) unlike the other crazies that were in the cast.

We should get him in on the Vital Q&A! A tall order I know but I bet he would really enjoy it.

Yea Rob is a really good guy. Rode with him many times and he does rip on a bike. He also gives his time to his fans and appreciates them. I am pretty stoked on his big heart. He gladly took pics with my daughter and her friends a few times.

That was a good interview. I have been a fan of his, of course in high school Ice Ice Baby was a way of life and even though I was more "metal" I dug that tune. Then knowing he was a moto fan I had to like him. Over the years I heard the metal version of Ice Ice Baby and liked it as well. But then once the DiY show came out I have been a viewer ever since and he seems like just a normal dude who builds bad ass mansions and likes to moto and have fun.

Good for him, and glad to hear him on the podcast.
