What could I do to add power to my 78 RM250? I know there's problems with overheating when you bore it out, so I wasn't gonna do that. Is the carburetor the only other thing I can upgrade or am I overlooking something besides maybe sprockets?

You're all over the place with this RM. You could have posted this question in your other thread...the one where you said the bike had loads of power, but wasn't comfy. A few pics might help improve the responses. This will get you back to the top of the page anyway. Good luck.

Yea I don't like changing topic too much and that was for chassis options. This is for power. It's fine as it is, just wondering if I can squeeze anymore out. I really don't want a new bike, I love the vintage look, it's just gonna take me a while to have this one looking great.

I have always thought it would be cool to put an air cooled engine in a newer frame for trail riding. Not having to worry about damaging radiators would be nice. How about modifying he rad shrouds on the newer bike to direct nor air down to the cooling fins? Also could you have the cylinder plated to help with heat transfer? Not sure if those old engines had plated cylinders or if that would even work. Newman would be the guy to ask!

There's one floating around here. It's a 2010ish Honda 250F frame with an 84 CR500 motor. I thought it was pretty cool too. Not something i'd build myself but really neat to look at. Guy did a good job on it too, you can tell he wasn't a ham & egger.

I missed that thread. Do you have a link please? Thank you

Don't know if anyone remembers but I posted before about wanting an air cooled two stroke for 15 to 20 minute MX motos. How light could that thing be?

I get all nostalgic about the bikes and snowmobiles of my youth. Usually all it takes is a ride on one and I realize why fuel injection and electric start are so awesome! Lol. However I do love seeing old machines restored and part of the past being preserved! My little project is my first bike, a 1981 Honda Z50. I'm going to start with thst one and see how it goes!
