I lost track of a thread about a week ago talking about the boring racing, that 450s have too much power, tracks suck, etc.

I think that with a 450 there is only so much they can do to make the tracks difficult, and have different options. Obviously SD 2 was pretty one lined by the time they got to the main which showed in the results and the fact that there wasnt much of a gap between the top several guys.

I think there are a few ways that things could be done to make the racing better, but I think it ultimately comes down to the big wigs wanting things to change.

1. Is to keep working with the tracks and see what they can do to make challenging, tracks with different options, thus different lines, and possibly better racing.

2. 2 strokes - wont happen so we wont go into it. With that said, two strokes would open up for different track options much like the early 2000s, which I thought had some very cool, technical tracks.

3. Have two classes on 250s - premier class would be basically all factory bikes with all the modifications of the top 250 teams and then maybe have an entry level class with less modifications, mostly regarding motors. Manufacturers wont like this because then there is no point in having a bike bigger than the 250, but I truly think a top tier 250 is all the more power these guys truly need, anything else is just overkill.

4.. Would a few less cc's equal better racing? I think as a manufacturer the option of 150, 250, 350 would be a marketers dream when it came to advertising, sort of similar to the 125 /250. I think dropping the cc's just a bit could help result in better racing as well.

Curious to see what other think, feel free to share your thoughts.

a 175 2 stroke class sort of like the 250 class now and have a 250 4 stroke class. This way the track could work for both classes. 190 pound weight minimun in 2 stroke class and a 210 pound weight minimun in the 4 stroke class. top 3 in the 2 stroke class would automatically qualify for the 250 main event.

I think if they did a 125 class for entry level guys who really shouldn't be going that fast it would make for some great racing. Then a 250 class that allowed 4ts and 2ts so each track/rider would have their own advantages for bike choice. Then a 450 class for Dungey to dominate. Like the old days with 125/250/500 classes. This way all the 2t guys can boner as much as (we) want and everyone is happy. The tracks would have to be challenging for all 3 classes with 125s choosing dramatically different lines/rhythms than the 450s. Then possibly change the road to sx through ax and just make everyone earn points through the 125 class to move up or something. I could go on and on... any thoughts?

Problem is cost. The factory would make a small-bore a bullet, but the guys outside of factory wouldn't get near, and cost way too much. Premier class, run what you brung. 500cc 2-stroke? Ok. 350cc 4-stroke? Ok. Then a 'lesser', or support class, again, run what you brung. Big dudes with little money could ride a bigger bore, while little ones with big money could ride smaller bikes.

Then create a regional 250f limited class. The manufacture supplies there limited class motor package and suspension package for XXX amount. I say the 450f stays the same and 250f class becomes a national class and does a complete series with no pointing out. The limited class would be a true road to supercross as your first year has to be in the limited class and would help the sport by keeping cost down and no HP advantage. Riders in the limited class have to learn more bike setup.
