Matthes interrupts guests a lot.

Just when someone interesting is about to say something insightful or interesting, Matthes will interrupt the guest which, in turn, derails the conversation or speaker's train of thought.

I was never really an RV fan when he was racing. But I have to say that everything I've seen of him since he retired, he is a class act and a real funny guy. Seems like he would be a blast to be around. I wish he'd have shown more of that during his career, but I understand why he didn't

Best part of the interview was mathes trying to get rv to hang up. Rv wanted to stay on. Damn good interview!!

I always had respect for ryan. I knew there was more under the surface though, he kept to himself and played the media game like he was asked too. But seeing this side of him, I'm a fan. It's bittersweet he's retired and we'll only get to see and hear from him here and there, but I'm absolutely an RV2 fan now.

He wasn't afraid to open up and show the side of moto many of us know, family issues and expenses from the pressure of rising to that level. Hearing Nick joke about RV lining up to race again and his interactions with the team make me wonder. Maybe he felt he left a little on the table, or is realizing that he misses it now?

How cool would it be to see another season or two out of him at this point. I don't really believe it will ever happen, but how cool would it be. . .

I like how he says all matter-of-fact like that he was never teammates with Austin Stroupe. Actually Ryan, you were in 2008 and he beat you...

Actually Ryan, you were in 2008 and he beat you for the overall at Glen Helen:

LOL, yup. That was the race that Mitch caught Stroupe snorting coke in the hauler.

What time does the RV interview start? I can't do the 5 or 6 hours of PulpMX podcasts.
He comes on at the 2:01:00 mark

My guess is that part of the reason Mathis ( Cool ) seemed to be trying to get RV off the line: RV did more time than he initially agreed, and Matthes wanted to open the door for RV to leave, as opposed to forcing Ryan to excuse himself from an interview. It's subtle social etiquette for when someone is doing you a favor.

I really want to know what RV's Strava username is. It's gotta be pretty bad for Steve not to blow him out publicly on it - especially since I remember Matthes alluding to a story about RV pulling his balls out of his pants.

Like others have said, I'm a bigger fan of RV now than I was when he was racing. He seems like a real character.

What was Steve talking about ranking RV 4th behind stewie?

If I'm RV, my starva is going to hell too.

He is doing exactly what he wants to do now....Drinking beer, fishing, riding on occasion, watching for snow fall so he can go ride timber sleds.........hes living the dream he earned.

Maybe GuyB can ask him to come on to do a Vital Q&A and y'all can ask him about Stroupe and anything else.

HI STEVE,,,,,,,,,,, if you are reading this...... I have not yet listened to the show but I know what the other guys mean about you pushing the stars off of your show, I think it is just that you are overly polite and do not want to demand too much from the stars on your show..... but please just ask them if they agree to stay longer, it is so good when a star is on and we can hear his thoughts.....

and

by the way, please, please remember that Europe is not so far away, it is not like asking a guest from Mars to come on your show, the phone call to Europe costs just pennies - PLEASE get Stefan Everts on the show....... Gerrit Wolsink......... Heiki Mikkola........... David Thorpe (again)........... Eric Geboers............... etc...... it would be fine......

AC said in one of his pulp interviews that he made a strava account for RV, I think he said the username was Charles Atlas.

Guys: I am pretty sure Matthes would have RV on all night long. In fact, he tried to set it up for the future. But I am equally sure that he texts with guests to establish when and how long they'll come on the show. He can't keep begging them on air because then they'll look like a douche for saying "No". It's simple etiquette that would encourage a guest to come back on again.

Also, having a guest stay longer than agreed throws off the rest of the schedule for others who have yet to come on.

I agree with this, but there has to be a better more subtle way. Its 2016, we have the technology.

To the guy asking about guests in Europe, we've had pre-recorded interviews w Simpson, AC222 a couple of times but the time change makes it impossible to really get any of these guys on the phone.

Even DC took a dig at me yesterday on a call for trying to get rid of RV! Trust me, I would have him on as long as he wanted to but as of 4 hours before the show, I wasn't 100% he would even do it. The endless texts back and forth to get him on were comical at times (I ended up having to commit to buy Kawi guys a Starbucks traveller coffee thing this weekend for him coming on) and he acted like he didn't want to do it, asked how long, never really confirmed 100% he was coming on etc etc.

So to be respectful to him, I gave him a chance to bail after our pre-arranged time. Thankfully he didn't and it was nice to hear from him. But that's why I tried to "kick" him off. Guess he enjoyed it.

You should bug him to be a studio guest more, he's awesome.

Getting back to the Euro guests, I often listen before I leave for work. That's 6AM in the morning here and I don't see that impossible for the Euros to take a phone call.

Thanks for your reply Steve, right afterwards showed up the post from the guy in Germany, so you see, it is possible,,, just imagine having some of these great old Euros on the show taking questions from your listeners ---

What could Wolsink tell us about his adventures with DeCoster back when they were on top of the world.

and how often have you had, or will you have a chance to have a guest who was an MX star and who is a true to life dentist,,,,,,,, uh.... maybe this will be the only one in the history of the MX.....

I would say Dr. Wolsink would gladly be on your show and get up at 6AM to do it......

That would be a good one to start with......... yea. Dr. Wolsink, former Suzuki factory rider.......... Thanks for the consideration, I will be watching for his name to show up on your website.....

There you go, see the fun we could have,

There is another good suggestion Steve......, Karsmakers, Ring him up and see if he will go on the show at 6AM Holland time, I bet he would be happy to come on.... Then you can ask him for Wolsinks phone number since they are probably neighbors.....

DeReuver, van den Berg, Everts, Smets, ...

The major thing is these guys, or Euros in general, aren't afraid to run their mouth. The cookie-cutter advertisement speaches of some industry people is more soporific than a box of sleeping pills.
