250 Heat 2 - Gate Malfunction?

Edited Date/Time 1/25/2016 10:42pm
Sorry if this is a duplicate, I did search and didn't see a topic on this.

Did the gate malfunction in the second 250 heat? I re-watched the replays of the start, and I can't seem to see a malfunction. It looked like a handle full of riders just jumped it.

It seems strange that they would restart for a hand full of riders jumping the gate, but it also seems strange that a hand full of riders would jump the gate without some sort of malfunction.

Did I miss something?

A bunch of riders got stuck in the gate while a bunch appeared to jump? I never did get an explanation while we were there, but I'd guess it didn't fall properly when when they hit the switch, or it may have moved just a little and caused the jumping and riders getting stuck.

They said the gate shimmied or something, riders go when they see movement on that gate as that usually means its dropping but it didnt drop for another second or so

It looked to me like it flinched a little bit causing the guys to hit the gate. It took a little bit to see but it did.

This would make the most sense. I figured it had to have flinched at least a bit for that many guys to jump.

On the plus side, at least they had the red flag out on the first lap as opposed to the sixth. Whistling

I personally think the guy dropping gate caused it to shimmy making the riders think it was dropping.

Just seemed to be a long delay before the drop, causing some to anticipate the drop before it actually did?

Good photo!

#82 (Trevor Reis) This is why its a better idea to watch your own gate and not the gate beside you. Smile

I'm not sure, I didn't really see it move but I wasn't sitting behind the gate (obviously).

To me, it looked like one guy jumped, which caused maybe one or two others to, which probably made the gate move, causing more guys to jump.

I'm probably wrong though.

I thought Savatgy hit the gate so hard that the whole thing moved causing the other guys to jump.

Werent there riders on both sides who got stuck in it eliminating the flinch theory?

I saw a couple flinch and go...

Didn't look like a malfunction to me, especially not when they zoomed in and you could see their tyre against the gate!

I got stuck in the gate once. I was so pissed. I yelled at the starter that the gate didn't drop. He said "cause you tire was under it." Oh well. Nevermind.

Have to agree there Peely my fucked up vision gave me the impression that all the gates that malfunctioned had 20/21" stuck under it.
