Fly vs ANSR gear

Edited Date/Time 1/21/2016 6:35am
I'm looking at buying a couple low-mid range gear sets from one of these two companies. In the other Fly thread it seems like a pretty good set. Haven't heard much on the new ANSR stuff though.

Does Ansr fit over knee braces really good? A Fly rep told us theirs are designed with this in mind and others weren't...or not done as well. That was end of 2014, so maybe other companies are doing the same now. We like our Fly stuff.

Suggest you try on whatever you're looking at, with braces or whatever you'll be wearing under it.

My ANSR pants fit over knee braces just fine....the Alpha Air jersey flows air extremely well and both have held up in the wash with no fading or wear at all. Only gripe I have is the gloves seem to discolor on the palms pretty fast, like one or two rides fast, and the jerseys run a little big. I actually like it since they won't come untucked, but they feel too big to mountain bike in. Kinda picky I know. And the gloves are not actually falling apart, probably. But by comparison, I've had fox gloves that an asteroid would bounce off of. Still, if you're riding in an extremely, awful humid swamp ass hot climate, the Alpha Air stuff is gold.

i bought some mid-range ONE Industries stuff last September and the jersey already has a huge rip at the seam of the sleeve and the pants already have wear-tear inside the knees. i've worn this gear set maybe 10 times. huge disappointment.

my 2007 NoFear stuff is still in amazing shape. "they just don't make them like they used to"

i might try some FLY stuff, i did try one of their riding jackets and was less than impressed, but the gear seems to be quality.

Bad experience here. ANSR stuff i got was paper thin and really plastic-ish..bought 3 sets of 2015 gear and its all trashed from 1-2 rides per month..even the top of the line pants with leather knees are ripped everywhere but the leather area..super bummed to say the least..stay away. Fly has better reviews but ive never tried it. I did look at it on the rack a few days ago and seemed to have better stitching quality though.

I just ordered my 5th set of Fly gear. Even when the color ways are not my favorite, I get Fly because it holds up better. I've had Fox, Troy Lee, and Thor and they all have worn out faster. I'm tall and lean and the Fly cut fits my body type the best as well.

I stopped riding for 8 years. Well when I opened up my gear bag again this past year, for the first time in 8 years keep in mind. The only gear that was still good was a set of No Fear gear from 2003. It was perfect! All of the rubber padding was still on it.

The 5-6 sets of fox gear in the bag, 360, blitz vertigo, all the high end lines, all had the rubber pads come unglued.

It surprised me.

I have just started back riding and have fox gear as of now, but I have also tried ANSR 2015 alpha gear and it seems to be top notch!

I just purchashed a FLY F2 w MIPS, and it is really good quality for the price. Exceptional value. After that, and reading the fly thread, I am strongly considering purchasing a set of Fly gear to try out.

last year I bought a set of Fox 180, the cheapest ansr kit and fly kinetic mesh. The fly is the only stuff still intact and I probably wear it the most. It was the most expensive but not by a lot.
The fly stuff is a really good fit too and the pants have more adjustment then either of the others. I bought the ansr kit just to practice in but don't even use it for that anymore, I bet I've not worn the ansr kit more than 10 times, the fit is that bad. No matter how tight I have the pants they still come down while riding and the shirt is horrible and really makes me sweat.
I will be buying more fly kits this year.

I love JB10's all white gear:

In contrast Deano's all black looks badass.

With that, i call it a tie. Both have amazing stuff.

I use to work for FLY and they have made great strides in the quality of their gear. Many of you would be surprised where it is actually made but Kudos to FLY and WPS for stepping up there game. BTW, FLY also probably supports more local racing than any other line. I know our Central Kansas MX series is supported by them again. Fly bucks galore.

As long as Guy is over there, you guys are in good hands.

Good friend of mine and very talented designer. I have noticed the stuff is going in the right direction.
