Hello, coming out to CA that week of the Oakland race and need a place to hang at the race. This would be my first race in California and I'm really pumped for this. Coming alone cause I'll be their on business but is their tailgating at the race?? Do people party in the parking lot?? let me know and lets hook up!

Why hang out in a parking lot when you can be in the pits and inside the stadium?

If you're going to hang out in a parking lot in Oakland you better bring your gun.

lol Oakland can bring some interesting people to the parking lot. I am from right around that area so I end up going every year. It's a way different feel than A1, which I also end up going to every year, but if you're looking for a party, you can definitely find it there. If you hang out with the right people it can be a good time but a total BRO-fest. Just don't walk outside the stadium area unless you want to get shot.

The parking lot is connected to the stadium which is also real close to the highway, so as long as you don't stray from that area your okay.

Do yourself a huge favor and don't mess with the parking lot. There's a BART (subway) station directly connected to the Coliseum. Depending on where you're coming from you can save yourself a lot of time, some cash, and your good health by parking your car at a BART station 15-20 miles out and riding the train in. If you're staying in SF on business, even better. You can walk from your hotel to catch the train, go to the races, then come right back.

I am looking for abit of advice re Oakland SX as well, we are over from NZ again going to A2 as well as Oakland.
I have been to the USA many times, and too alot of races, but never Oakland. I booked a hotel with in walking distance of the stadium, Quality INN.
Now looking at the reviews of the hotel and listening to a few stories, i have a feeling this hotel and walking to the stadium is not the best thing to do, for my 18 year old son and me.

I am correct ............

Thanks

That's what I'd be doing aswell. Went to watch the raiders at that stadium and coming from Australia it was an experience

You should attend the Santa Clara round if possible.

That would be far better for what you are wanting to do. Not to mention the stadium is WAY nicer and brand new.

There is massive amounts of partying and tailgating at the Oakland SX. The stadium is in a rough area, but stay in the parking lot and you will be OK. In the parking lot you will only have to worry about all the drunken wild animals known as supercross fans.

Exactly, you will have a lot of fun out there. There is definately a massive party going on in the parking lot, that's half the fun! I usually watch most of practice and head into the pits for a little, but that still leaves plenty of parking lot time to witness the chaos. We've had some pretty epic moments out there involving everything from rc cars, to scooters, and anything else in between. It's a heck of a time so don't let the losers on here who don't even go to the races ruin it for you.

Lotta suburban white guys in here, huh? Well theres a surprise....Unless you're trying to buy rocks or talk shit to people I'm sure you will be ok. I doubt they would have a race in a place where you face a large risk of death in the parking lot. I mean, Raiders tailgating is legendary.

I'm guessing you've never been to the greater Oakland area?

Just try to fit in, it'll be fine.

Don't let everyone spook you. I'll be fine. It's just like any place of question. Walk into an alley with money hanging out of your pockets and things happen. You'll be fine. For heaven sakes, you're from Jersey, right? You can handle yourself.

I've been going to that place for years. Even attended SX where Jamm'n Jimmy Weinert won on a paddle tire. Oaktown knows it's people. Cops will be everywhere. Someone suggested the BART train. Not a bad idea and then pop into the pits. Oh, and someone mentioned the Raiders. Raider Nation is alive in Oaktown, but don't expect to see them at a SX. It's not their deal.

I don't care, I'm from Camden County, New Jersey. Look that one up, buttercup. Shows at the E-center in Camden were prob the same way. It's in what at times in basically a warzone. If you stay in the lot, you're fine. Bums come up and cling to your party sometimes but you just give em a beer or a hotdog if they won't leave. If you go looking for trouble however, it'll find you. Don't be a douche and you won't get shot.

What people are saying about safety issues is true. It can be a rough area, but really only if you're doing dumb shit. My BART suggestion was more to avoid driving into and out of the parking lot.. because it will take you forever to get out of there if you leave when everyone else does.
