Is the 2016 Ktm 250sxf really worth it over the yz250f? I have the opportunity to get the Ktm wanted to know if you guys rode both and can tell me a little about the new Ktm.

The ktm was the lightest feeling four stroke I've ridden. The one I rode was set up for ax with the gearing so it was hard to comment on the motor because it went through the revs so quick. The Yamaha did seem to have more grunt though, but it also feels bigger and heavier. Both bikes were basically brand new and I rode them back to back. Suspension wasn't quite broken in and they weren't set up for me so can't really comment there.

Value wise i feel KTM has the upper hand.

electric start, spun hubs, cnc clamps, oversized bar clamps, well designed parts, brembo brakes.

Have you absolutely ruled out the 350? Either way, I know the new Yamaha 250F is great bike.. but as long as you're ok with foregoing the KYB suspension for the WP 4CS, then I'd be shocked if you went with the KTM and ended up regretting it. Yes I am little biased to the Big Orange Machine; but it's only because they've earned my customer loyalty over the years by making a damn good product.

I was thinking about the 350 but then I can't race the 250 class.... Also I heard factory connection does real good with the 2016 Ktm if you go on there website it is like the first thing that comes up.

The ktm to me was out of balance and with a strange power delivery. I just rode a 16 yz450f . Wow what a great handling bike. First lap i felt i can get on it and be competitive immediately with heavier springs front and rear.

I heard the 16 yz450f was really good and easy to ride. How was the cornering on it ?

Im usually the guy that rides a new bike and says it sucks. 16 350sxf is the best stock bike I've ever ridden.

I'm kinda on the fence between the 350 and the 250 if I do go Ktm how is the power on it? Also how is the suspension ?

The 350 didn't feel like a 450, it had the feeling more like a fast 250, a really fast 250. As for the suspension, I honestly was more comfortable than on my bike (15 250sx) which is revalved by factory connection. Im a pretty decent "A" rider and about 160lbs so for me it felt perfect. Im not ktm biased as my current bike is my first ktm in 10 years. This is one of two bikes that i felt i could race off the showroom floor the other being the 06 and up yz125.

Did ride both, Yamaha better out of box. KTM motor didnt feel good at track and suspension wasnt level of KYB.
I have now Yamaha 250f and 450f. New 2016 450f feels even better than 250f at track.

Its really good out of box. Motor is easier to ride low rpm and linear curve to top. Motor is strong but easy to ride and power is really wide range opposite to Honda 450f that doesnt have any top.
Suspension is also better than before and cornering is sharp. They did come out different offset and harder forks that keeps front end feeling better. Only thing i have found critical is front/rear balance. I run forks all the way down on clamps and sag 104-105. If i move up forks or softern forks bike just starts to feel low at front and rear starts to feel too hard or high. If you go too much with sag shock starts to feel worse also.
Im not professional rider but i ride alot and tried almoust all new bikes. Yamaha 450 just feels great.

Would you recommend it to a novice running consistent top 10s and I also train with a local pro .

I rode my friends new 2016 KTM 450SXF and loved the bike. I'm hardcore two stroke guy and new the 450SXF almost makes me wanna turn to dark side.

The bike felt lighter than any 450 I have tested and turned better than my 150SX. Front wheel grip was amazing with the new chassis.

Engine was incredibly powerful but power was easy to use. I was expecting fire breathing monster but instead the power curve was really linear and easy to ride. I could ride whole track on third gear without any problem.

The suspension was really good too with the new air forks. It didn't bottom anywhere and bike had very balanced and planted feel. The bike had been ridden only 15 minutes and the forks felt bit stiff in the initial part of the travel, but I think they will get better when the bike has more riding hours.
