I guess some Pros would rather just give the stuff away to fans.

So yeah....

Who gives a shit if a rider sells his gear at the end of the season? Especially if it's for a charity?

God damn it! Why did I even post in here?

Who cares if someone is selling their gear on ebay. It has no impact whatsoever on anyone in this thread, even if it directly violates their contract with the gear company. It also doesn't matter if the person is donating the money from that sale to charity. If they want to, good on them. If not, who cares! For those people getting all pissy about it, it'll be ok. Grab yourself a bucket and small shovel, remove the sand from your vajay, and build a sandcastle.
Thank you... X2 WGAF...

I see no problem with it but it doesn't matter what I think anyways. If his gear sponsors let him keep his gear after the season is over then it is his property and he can do what he pleases with it. If the gear company has a problem with this then they should take the gear back and do what they want with it.

My dad use to buy used gear for me from a privateer who was sponsored by Thor. We didnt have enough money to buy gear too often so it was a way for me to get newer stuff and have a race and practice set at an affordable price. Years later when I was buying my own gear and had some money to spend I bought Thor because it was what I knew and had grown accustomed to. Sounds like a good deal for everyone to me.
This guy gets it, and is exactly what I see alot at the local level both growing up and still continuing with the local fast guys around here now days as well. Nothing to see here move on. I usually agree with alot of what Mathes has to say but he's really off base on this one!

Just read the whole thread. Some say it's CP, others say it isn't. Is it a conspiracy theory that said people are out to get CP or has it been proven? Because I can't say one way or the other from what I've read...

Who cares if a rider wants to sell their gear? Some lucky fan gets a cool piece of gear and life goes on. Smile

I don't think Reedy needs the extra money that he would get from his gear. CP may need it a little more than him. Remember, outside the top few riders, the contracts aren't what they used to be. Most of these racers wives don't work either which means its a one income family. Let pros do whatever they want to with their gear.

This kind of like hello pot, meet kettle. Wasn't it Matthes that was soliciting free parts for project 88 then turned around and sold the bike when it was completed? Whats the difference?

Don't bring facts into the equation, it's Steve's story let him stick to it.

WGAF let him continue to worship Tim Ferry and Van Halen.

Not saying what's right or wrong but please don't just make stuff up. At least attempt to use facts that have been verified.

Steve has stated that 90% of his parts were paid for directly out of his own pocket.
I'm also pretty sure that he wasn't under contract to NOT sell the 10% that were given him.

I think we've established that we don't know how pourcel a contract was set up.

There is also a pretty extensive history of Steve taking any opportunity to take a shot at him.

I don't think the prominent view on this one is very outlandish. You work for a gear company. You view it from that prism. Steve hates CP. He views it from that one.

You're right on that. It's all about perspective and that changes from poster to poster. To be clear, I certainly have nothing against CP, he was getting Fly on the podium this summer! I have done interviews with him for Racer X also and have had nothing but cooperation on that, too. Further, I have known his gf's family for 15 years.

It's definitely not a personal deal on my end. My entire and solitary point was that I like when riders give that stuff away instead of selling it. Just my opinion and mine alone. I am sure others will disagree and that's fine.

Just stay away Jt$. You told me once "You get what you deserve when you come on here".
Amazing how people can post crap they have no first hand info on.

Again...right or wrong, I don't know but the LIE in this post was that Steve was given parts for free which he sold. That doesn't have anything to do with the Ad hominem you just posted.
