So...someone says they've signed someone; yet, they actually haven't?

These 2 posts are exactly the result: people within the industry (implied example based on knowing "MX Culture"), some of whom may be involved in hiring riders are saying,"Bloss? Nope. He's signed with Rock River. Who-else can we call?"

I believe that's the OP's point.

Totally F'd up that stuff like this happens. Especially to a kid like Benny. I talked to him about a possibility in Canada and he was EXTREMELY easy to talk to & likeable. No BS and very realistic about his opportunities and the industry.

He's the kind of kid that represents our sport in a way that we can be proud of.

Someone like Benny getting mis-represented like this kinda pisses me of.

So lemme get this straight while II try to wrap my head around the bass-ackwards bro down industry….. The kid that WON the coveted AMA Horizon award does not have a ride, are you fucking kidding me???? A couple years ago that was the golden ticket. Its actually really embarrassing to call this sport legitimate when I see something like this going on. That's like te Heisman trophy winner not having a team to play in the NFL for albeit a Heisman winner with a.clean record.... His size would probably do well in supercross too as compared to a superstar amateur that's barely breaking puberty 5'4 and 135 lbs.
Have these teams learned NOTHING from the last 2 years of superstar amateur kids with big promise coming in and barely able to crack the top ten more than 2 times while crashing out of half of the races

Would you rather he used Bart and rode a yellow bike? :-)

I'd like to think is there's any questions, just read Team Green's post about 3 or 4 above this one.

Shouldn't be much of a question after that..

I can't handle all the speculation. He has to ride Arenacross and earn his points before he can do SX. He was also hurt for almost a year after he won his Horizon award and was sort of forgotten. He is biting at the bit to race, but he is upset he isn't "a real pro" yet. If he could ride, I'm positive Cycle Trader would sign him.

He received the Horizon Award in August 2015, and was expected to make his professional debut, on a 450, at Unadilla. I believe that he was unable to ride at Unadilla and Utah, due to a concussion he sustained while practicing. He did qualify at Ironman (17th), and ended up with finishes of 17th and 15th. I also believe that the ten points he scored at Utah were enough to get him a two digit number for 2016. Feel free to correct me if any of the forgoing is inaccurate, but I don't believe that injury has had a significant effect on his pro career at this point.

2015 Benny Bloss - Tons of talent and speed.
2014 RJ Hampshire - Same as Matt below.
2013 Matt Bisceglia - Fast as shit on occasion. He'll be a 250 title threat.
2012 Zach Bell - Poor kid needs to retire.
2011 Justin Bogle - 250SX title and has tons of talent.
2010 Jason Anderson - Just getting warmed up. He'll be a 450 threat in 2016.
2009 Dean Wilson - Moderately successful with an outdoor title, but lots of injuries.
2008 PJ Larson & Darren Durham - One is done and the other I've not seen in some time.
2007 Trey Canard - An outdoor title and 250SX title and several wins.
2006 Josh Hill - A win or two? Tons of talent, though.
2005 Ryan Villopoto - Hall of fame career.
2004 Mike Alessi - A few wins outdoors and several good rides with teams. The hype burst like a balloon.
2003 Davi Millsaps - Long career with a 250SX title and a hand full of wins.
2002 Evan Laughridge - I got nothin'.
2001 James Stewart Jr. - Hall of fame career.
2000 Ben Riddle - Last I heard he was trying to become Tyler Durden. Prison?
1999 Travis Pastrana - 1 title and never really got to show his talent and speed due to injuries.
1998 Billy Payne - Short career, few flashes of brilliance.
1997 Nick Wey - Moderately successful, long career. Built a name for himself, very funny, nice guy.
I think a lot of you guys missed the point here. Its not that every Horizon Award winner from LL went on to have a successful career, it was that every Horizon Award winner got a ride right out of LL. Whether it was a full factory ride or a high level team ride with a lot of support.

The analogy about the Heisman Trophy winner is also accurate. While not every Heisman winner becomes successful in the NFL, there is always a team them to sign them up right out of college willing to give them a shot.

When Bloss won the Horizon Award at LL's at the end of July he also earned his Pro license. While training for Unidilla he dinged his head and actually could have rode but decided to take a couple weeks off and just race Indiana and I thought 15th in the 450 class was pretty respectable for his first Pro race.

Does he still need his SX endorsement? Yes he does as well as Forkner and a bunch of other kids. I don't think a contract not being signed has much to do with that. I feel like Bloss not wanting to come out of pocket with a bunch of money for a ride might have had something to do with a contract not being signed.

We're going to just tell the industry we've signed you for next year, but we need you to give us a check for $XX,XXX before we actually sign the contract with you...

Missed the point ?? Nah, just not assuming the same things you are - Awarding an amateur rider the Horizon Award knowing that he is entering the professional ranks in the 450 class is equivalent to awarding a high school football star the Heisman, knowing he is skipping college to enter the pros.

Correct me if I am wrong - but not only has that not happened, it makes absolutely no sense.....and the professional teams are well aware of that. Perhaps the Horizon Award committee should pay more attention to what the award is actually for instead of basing it off politics when awarding it. The simple solution for Benny is to get more results in the 250 class.

I watched that video this morning as well, and thought "WOW as he went through the whoops. I've watched him ride at various tracks around Oklahoma and I am always blown away; his corner speed is unreal. Plus at 6'6"+ he has a unique style.

became a fan of the guy when he did some creek jumping at LL 14 and cut his footer very badly. Then continued to race all week with a huge cut, filling his boot with blood.

I think its just retarded for someone his size to ride a 250. but hey, if he kicks ass on 250s, imagine how little the transition to the 450 will be?!

I hope the best for BB in the future.

He has to ride a 250. Can't ride a 450 in SX until you do the 250.

He will be on a 450 for outdoors.
