A partial strip , clean up and new plastics / graphics /tyres and I had myself a neat mostly original pre 90 racer . Would like to fit a pipe & muffler next if I can find something ... Help to preserve this one too , not a mark on it .

I've been searching for 88-90 YZ250 for a few years, finally this clean version showed up on Indy's craigslist. And as a bonus the price was right.

Damn good old bikes, I had an 89 125 and my buddy had an 89 250 that he let me race a lot. It has great bottom end, I loved the way that thing just took off. I had the 90 250 the next year, it was actually a bit mellower than the 89.

I have a '90 125 now that is original/unrestored, it is a garage piece. Which sort of sucks because I'd like to ride it, but it's just in too good of shape to do that to it. Those layouts were really good for the time too.

We beat the hell out of those bikes, rode almost every day. And here they are 25 years later STILL going strong. When it comes to longevity, Yamaha is pretty badass.

Would love to ride that 90 YZ125...first 125 I had. Good bike aside from its refusal to up shift under WOT. Great motor.

1989 YZ250 Pipe hits the bottom of the 1990 YZ250 Radiator. So a 1989 YZ 250 Pipe "should" fit and give a bit more clearance to the Radiator. This is just what I have been experiencing in working on my 1990 Yamaha YZ250/YZ360.

Original Poster. Nice bike. There is 1989 Yamaha YZ250 in my area cheaaaapppp, but I have to stop buying these bikes.

I know this is a old thread. But anyone know of a source for a PC silencer for a 89. Have found one for a 88 and 90 model but not a 89. I know DEP and FMF makes one but looking for a PC or maybe Dyno Port if he is still making anything ?

The '90 won't fit? I thought they were identical bikes?

I did as well. Looks like FMF and DEP made one to work but for some reason PC different part numbers and seems to be different.

Pretty sure that's a 90 model going off the forks.

Well, I knew it was either 89 or 90. I have so many bikes I lose track. For sale anyhow.
