Here's what it looks like right now, with a wall of hay bales. They are going straight as they exit the corner and their is a berm we tractored in to make it almost impossible to go off there unless you got punted... And the section is very different from last year.

If you see anything else, let me know.

I think it will be fine but the entrance to the corner is what worried me, not the exit. Getting out of shape on the right hand side on corner entry could be bad if a rider can't gather it up and slow down enough. Over the berm and straight in to the face of a hill.

aFACE, there's a water truck lane on the inside, so I'm not sure what you mean? I will go have a look. Amateurs are racing now so I am writing Racerhead and have time...

Jeffro, we will have hay bales up on top on the outside, as always, but I am not sure what you think is so sketchy. That's not really a drop-off and they hit it straight, so I am nut sure what the problem is, but I will look at it again this morning when the amateurs are out there...

That's cool DC. It was just something that caught my eye , and basically wanted some input from someone that had personally seen it ( like you ). The rest of the entire track looks awesome as far as I'm concerned and should produce some great racing for the final round. Like I said , things always look different on a camera , so I wasn't sure. Thanks for chiming in though man!

I think the track looks really good (as it did last year before the rain came...).

It's so nice to see a new track built which uses the ebb and flow of the natural landscape for a change. It's a beautiful thing when done properly and this track definitely does that.

Jeffro, there is an event called "Erzberg", I suggest you never watch it.
Funny that you mentioned that. I just finished watching that last night on the redbull signature series broadcast. I've watched it a few different times. Brutal is about the only word that comes to ind.

All about the prep... When I was there for the KTM intro a few months ago, it was just as hardpacked as most tracks out west.

exactly, that was was super hard packed during the KTM intro.

What is crazy is the difference on track conditions with a water truck vs irrigation system. Oak Hill can be like Ironman today with sprinklers or iron man at KTM intro with a water truck. Track looks so sick right now, great work MX SPORTS!!

i was just about to say, don't get too excited about their dirt..its not that great. potholed shallow ruts and hardpack by 1st moto.

track looks good right now tho, hopefully it stays that way.

Hey DC, myself,I'd rather have the orange or yellow plastic stakes there than haybales.

If you are headed off id rather be in control somewhat rather than rolling over bales, getting really squirrely and then the drop off.

Had some bad crashes just from the bales before and if they had not been there I'd just rolled out and gotten back on track.

Later man,have a good show.

Well I'm glad I didn't sound to crazy for bring that corner up in a discussion. I know it's a lot different in real life than it is with a helmet cam , but for some reason that corner made me go " What the hell? "

And the dirt there just looks awesome! I hope the weather stays good there , because I think it could be an awesome race weekend for you guys that get to go!

I rode Ironman last year at the LL regional the first time it was ever open and that section of the track is very, very weird. Its like you go down in the gully and for some reason I remember like G forces approaching the corner your talking about cuz you drop down so quick. I actually snagged the crap out of my left knee there and she popped. (Prolly shouldnt drag my foot). That helmet cam doesn't do that place justice AT ALL. The step up after this corner we are referring to is pretty awesome. Such an awesome track with sick jumps. Everyone complained after the regional how sketchy they thought it was and I loved it.. Too bad my dream was cut short when I broke my collarbone (for the 5th time) at the end of Friday practice landing weird after getting cut off by a guy on that inside single at 2:14ish in your video...Oh well. I'm with you, if the weather's good, the racing will be sweet. Loved that track.
I was also there for the regional, but this turn is not the same as what we rode.

For the regional, and for the national last year, the track went on up the hill before turning left, and then you went back down the hill. This is a new section.

"No one has ever hit this fence. There's no way a fence being gone will make a difference. This isn't the novice class we're talking about. Just put a few hay bales there to mark the danger zones."

I know it's a little different. I just remember that section being just kinda weird and kind of a flow-killer. Guess my memory is just a little off!

Edit: Also the pro section here is unbelievable. That uphill triple on the far left of the hill looks so awesome. That wasn't even built when we were there. I'm excited to see this track be rode in good conditions for the first time. Family events are keeping me from being there gosh dangit! HA

The reason why our AMA sports work. The fact that you will listen to criticism in a forum respond and then actually go back out and check the section to confirm what you already think to be fine is what makes you and your organization top notch. Thanks for listening to the average fan DC.

Here's the inside of the Jeffro Corner, I'm still not sure what the problem is -- it's a flat water truck lane before you get over into the weeds...

Haha well at least you got to race! I had to watch from the fence Saturday in a sling. I also love how they changed the section by the fence and parking. That switch back after the rollers that dropped down into a left hander was funky as well. New layout looks incredible.

DC , where you put the bails on the right side of the corner , if you watch the video I put up in the thread , exactly at 1:33 , on the right. The left side looks totally perfect. The right side , big gully is what I originally had concerns about. I mean , I'm not there , and can only comment on what I see in the video. I know all these guys risk life and limb out there and just thought that corner looked a little scary for a dude that might get pushed wide there. " On film " it looks like a good 10' -15' gully with a strait wall going up the back side. Maybe I'm wrong? And whatever the case man , you are the man when it comes to our races here in the states , I just wanted to point out a concern. Thanks for taking a look at it and I'm sure it'll be fine for the race.

Looks okay to me and DC has addressed it. I assume he is at the track? Is anyone else in this thread at the track as well? Just wondering...

Mosier used to have some stuff like that (from washout erosion, not exactly like that). You get cross-rutted and wind up down there, it took 5 minutes to manhandle your bike back out get going again. It rarely happened, though.

Oh, yeah. Moiser. That big jump into the creek bed followed by a sweeping left-hander sent me into the live oaks once or twice. Woke up with some dude asking me who the president was. I don't think "Van Buren" was the answer he was looking for.

The 'old' Mosier (1980), when Devaughn ran it counter clockwise (same as what you describe), after you came out of the woods, did the 180 bowl turn to the right and headed down the dropoff on your way down the hill. There was 60 degree or so bend wide to the left that I figured out had a great berm up top to rail if you ran it wide. WFO 4th or 5th like Talledega. Most downshifted and took the inside rut. I could make at least a sec a lap there. Then, one day I blew through the top of it. I think I flew sideways 30 feet and, for the first time, realized it was pretty much a straight dropoff on the back side about 15 feet. Wish someone had got a pic of it. Good times.
