I mean he's out a lot but from a pure speed and talent perspective the guy never ceases to amazè me. What blows my mind is that whenever he comes back from an injury he is battling and up front passing guys that been in race shape forever. Imagine what this guy could do if never got hurt?

I would think the greatest rider of MY time bar RC, is RV. That's strictly my opinion and no one has to agree, but I don't understand how one rider who frequently was beat by another can be mentioned on a higher pedestal.

I think Dungey it the best, no, not the fastest, that title goes to RV. But Dungey is always a threat. Which in my opinion is WAY better then a career where you either win or are on the couch.

Trey has gone 8-9, and 3-6 since his return. I would not call him the greatest rider of any time. No offense to Trey, he will always be a contender for wins, but his consistency is not there since moving up to the 450's. No rational person would rate Canard above RV, Dungey or even Tomac and Roczen for that matter.

If you could pick any racer's career to want to be RD would have to be top 3...ever. At least in my eyes.
The coin, race wins, championships, lovely bride, strong intact family and as of today so few injuries.

Maybe not the greatest based on any actual stats, but probably the greatest when it comes to staying positive and never giving up. Down but never out!

Nicest, most down to Earth, considerate, appreciative, etc. He tops all of those lists.

Without all the injuries, possibly one of the greatest ever.

Not even close, he may be hard pressed to be one of the top 5 riders racing now. Sure he goes fast but he throws it on the ground way too much and lots of times takes someone with him. Yes he is a top factory rider who can win some races and a heck of a good guy but you need to lay off the drugs even thinking he is the "greatest rider of our time"Laughing Laughing Laughing Blush

He does have some attributes that puts him above a lot of riders in my opinion but that is not to be confused with "The best rider" out there.

If he ever ends up being a riding coach when he retires he'll be one of the best there is. Talk about someone who's been through the wringer and back. Multiple times. And his riding technique is textbook perfect.

The best racers from a previous time and a current time both have the initials RD. Plus that RC guy.

The best rider?..........The would be the guy having the most fun on a given day.


As for TC? He is fast and occasionally finishes a season. Best? Seriously? I am still trying figure out if the OP just bought himself some a new boat and some of those big flasher trolling lures.

The guy has speed.

The good thing is he only falls once a year.

The bad thing is, whenever he falls something breaks. Bad luck for a super nice guy.

It would be awesome to see him put a full season together.

Good points, why is RV so high on the pedestal outdoors? He kicked ass with 4 straight titles in supercross...

What about outdoors? He won 12 overall's in the 450 class in 6 years... Yes, Yes, he got hurt... Was it the

bike's fault he got hurt? If so that's not his fault... RV & TC fast as anybody on a given day. Just don't see

RD is often faster and rarely injured.
RV was significantly faster, and won titles despite injuries.

IF...........and a huge if.............he didn't have major injuries throughout his pro career............he may have been very Dungey like and gotten multiple titles

that being said............what Dungey is accomplishing is pretty impressive.............a tad more stylish than Stanton, but always there..........no matter who the competition is

i'll go out on a limb and say he continues his dominance in 2016 with both SX and MX titles...........don't see anyone capable of matching the consistency of points and each and finishes every week............barring any mechanical DNF's
