On the pulp show, one of the reasons that Dungey may not do MXDN is that he has to do the USGP, Straight Rhythm, Monster Cup...

Grant is in for USGP, and he will be trying to show what he has to get a job. He could be a threat on his home track. Pourcel/Anderson, Dean Wilson, Justin Hill, Marvin, and whoever else decides to show up. I really think that because this race is after the nationals, teams and sponsors have incentive to do the race. Of course its probably not in the rider's contract but if the teams want to do it they can pay them the win bonus.

1 question, since we already know the GPs will be back next year after nationals, do you think that teams will include the race in newer contracts to be signed before next year? Now that there is good TV coverage and after nationals, and the teams are pretty much right down the highway, it seems like it's a low risk high reward. Especially for any rider's sponsored by KTM, Husky, and Monster (How many kawi guys will we see this year?) I know riders havent shown up in the past, but the big difference that I see is that it doesn't interfere with any of their series. Also gives riders 1 last chance to try to earn a contract, or even for teams to try a rider out for a race.

I agree totally dude!

If you are making that big of a trip you should stay near the coast and make the 1 hour drive. Glen Helen is located near the biggest cesspool on earth and if you don't stay in the right neighborhood you will be dodging bullets

Newport is fantastic. If you want be near the greatest city in the world stay down in the North County San Diego beach areas......you could even stay in Carlsbad since that is where the USGP was held for so many years. There r nice hotels within walking distance to the old track. Encinitas, Leucadia, Delmar, Solana beach.....all great beach towns with plenty of lodging and lots to do when you aren't at the track..

Drive to Glen Helen would be around 90 minutes but it is a nice drive.


If beaches aren't your thing then there is a beautiful mountain resort that is about a 45 minute drive from GH. Look into Lake Arrowhead. Plenty of cabin rentals and incredible scenery. Maybe 30 miles and 45 mins from the track.

I sure hope I can go! My good buddy ( which is from that area ) knows where to go and so forth and he said " It sounds like a plan " , so I'm really hoping to go. Been wanting to see one of these races for quite some time.

When the time comes , hope to hear from some of you Vital guys down there. If you end up going , hit me up on a PM or something.

I know. If I had to pay regular prices I wouldn't even consider it just for one race. Maybe as a combined vacation. Only upside working in aviation.

Thanks for the replies massive help will have a look at hotels! What about night life? Anywhere good to go both aged 24... Found flights reasonably priced in to LAX.. Then back home for the ferry to the nations!

Check out hotwire for hotels. Lots of places to go out and have dinner and some drinks. Depends on where you're staying.

Well said. There is also more than a litttle be said about racing for your country. Also not every US racer gets to go the MXdN but here's a chance to mix it up with the GP crowd.

It's tougher than what most people think though Rock. If a team never budgeted for that race and the cost to do it....it could be pretty expensive. Every single team rider out there is basically at the mercy of their team. And if the team doesn't think it's worth it...not much a rider can do about it. We as fans would love it if all our fast guys showed but we aren't flipping the bill.

There is no guarantee that any of those riders from the KTM, Husky or Monster teams will be racing. There are injuries riders got during the season they are getting healed or repaired. And as far as the European riders my thought is if they have a secure enough lead in the points or maybe so far behind in points they might not show. Its a crap shoot to who will be there. But if they are there or not it will be a good weekend of racing. Works Bikes versus American bikes. We are looking at maybe a 125 cc exhibition race during the day with as many of the top American A and B riders and if they want to make a trip top 125 European riders as well. No purse just trophies for the top 3. We still have to clear this with Youth Stream and the FIM. So keep your ears and eyes open.

You're right, and I wouldn't blame anyone for not racing the GP, in an ideal world of course we'd all want all the top Americans to be there, but in reality no-one could expect that to happen. Participating in a GP costs a lot of money, and it's a chunk of money that teams don't want or need to spend at the end of an already long and expensive season. It's no so bad for the factory efforts. That said, I do think we'll have a pretty strong American turnout this year compared to years past, and that should hopefully bring more fans in and create a better atmosphere for you guys. It's a shame it's the weekend before the MXoN, cos I'm sure quite a few European fans would make the trip out there otherwise

Great points Jeff but I am well aware of the factors involved with participating in an event like the USGP. I am not asking or expecting all of our fast guys to be there.

Bottom line I am pumped KTM, Husky and TLD haven't dipped into the excuse bucket and instead will be there.

I will be there. Can't wait. I'm into the sport not the specific riders. Can't wait to see that Mechanics area up close. Makes the row of 10X10 white ez ups we have at our nationals look totally hillbilly. Not that's there's anything wrong with being a hillbilly.

I'd go. Watching Herlings (hopefully he's healthy) would be a treat to watch. Also, if Dungey is in, I would 100% want to go watch that.
