That is correct. It is a very sad day for the Oregon moto community, and the moto community over all. Absolutely gutted to see this kind of thing happening around the sport I love.

the accused say's they were bullied, most people who have said anything say He ran across the pits and blind sided the deceased.

The guy who died seems to be well liked. Sounds just like a crazy deal.

from what ive seen from facebook and people I know. the ones who said they were being bullied were actually being the bullies but are using this for a excuse to cover up what happened. the kid whos father was killed told the other people they wanted nothing to do with them and wanted no part of any fight but the other people wouldn't let it go so they beat him up anyways

well liked is an understatement. everyone here is tore up.

the attacked is a pile of shit and he better get manslaughter. I didn't see it happen, but the consensus is he was sucker punched. the attacker came to the victim to start shit, not the other way around. so claiming defense or defending bullying is gonna be a long shot

this isn't the first spat between these families, the kids race each other almost every Thursday at TNMX

So fucking tragic and unnecessary. I don't know enough about the two families to ads any info, but what I've heard (and has been mentioned here) sounds plausible, which is just sad. Its a local night race for fucks sake.

Was hoping this story would stay off here. Talked to Joey this morning. I'm a little numb to it and can't really think of anything to say except that I'm pissed , shocked and extremely bummed about the whole thing. RIP Tony.

I agree JW, that dude robbed two kids of their dads. I would maybe even edit out the kids name, it's not mentioned anywhere else and like you said, he's got a tough road ahead of him.

Bums me out bad. Nick grew up with his mom and Joey grew up with his dad. And then when Nick was about 7 - 8yrs old he started living with his dad and Joey. Joey and his group were at my Indoor track sometimes 3 -4 times a week and little Nick would hang out with me or the gals in the office while big brother Joey was out riding. Never forget when Joey called me and said " Dude , we are coming up to the track and we got Nick a bike! " His first ever bike. I sat there and watched Joey teach Nick how to start that little Honda 50 for the first time and ride down the start stretch with both feet down until he fell over. Tony came up sometime after and you could see the look on his face of a proud man , just knowing he had another boy that would make a mark here in the NW motocross scene. I can't imagine how joey and Nick feel right now. Mixture of sadness and rage I bet. I've known that family a long time and Tony was one of the longest running moto dads in the pits. Such a sad deal here.

well said, far too much of that happens in todays world,

First of all, this is tragic and I feel for everyone involved. But I'm a little confused. Can someone clear up what happened (don't need too much detail).

Did attacker sucker punch him, and attacked just went lights out? Or did attacker beat him until he quit moving? Or was there a gun involved (someone previously mentioned license to carry)? It just seems crazy to me that something could escalate like this at a motocross race.

Again, thinking about all the families involved. Major bummer.

I grew up with a Dad with an explosive temper. Just seeing my Dad lose his shit with another adult would rattle me for days. When a kid witnesses his father get violent against another adult, it's a game changer. To have these circumstances play out will leave a mark that can never be erased.

I wish much love and therapy to both families; it is going to take a lot of compassion and healing to live a healthy and successful life.

Ps., my signature line applies perfectly here.

From my understanding, Tony had various disabilities, and blood thinning problems (not sure if that was an existing condition, or maybe due to medications), and they could not get his head to stop bleeding after he hit the concrete. Someone can come along and correct details, but it wasn't a punch alone that killed him. Very sad deal, I hate hearing about this kind of unnecessary bullshit.

This is JW btw, sorry.

This is for sure a sad moment in the NW moto community, my condolences to the family on many levels!

I was there last night but parked on the other side of the track. So much commotion all over! I did, "hear" from my friends that It was just a punch(they say he was blindsided) and then a fall to the ground where the deceased hit his head. Take that all with a grain of salt, just info that was passed to me.

Terrible terrible incident that should never ever happen at a motocroas event. It makes me sad just thinking about it.

if someone got the punch on video then it must not been to blindsided for them to be already recording.

he will be out on bail soon,if not already.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Charges were dropped, he's out. He was released on his own recognizance this morning and showed back up at court at noon. It will go to grand jury to decide if there's enough evidence to formally charge him.

There was people around, Michael was trying to start shit. Tony said he didn't want any of that going on, people were around, whoever has video wasn't the only person there.

There was an argument going on so someone whipped their phone out and started to video it. The first punch came out of no where and was unexpected. Tony was basically out on his feet and then a split second later Mike hit him again and Tony went down really hard and hit his head. Plenty of people would have stepped in , but it happened extremely fast from what I understand. Tony passed away at the hospital because his blood was to thin and they couldn't get the bleeding to stop.

BTW , I don't know if Mike hit Tony again after he hit the ground. I've heard yes and no , but the truth will surface soon.

If the dude had "thinning" blood either from medications he was on or a clotting issue then a simple blow to the noggin could cause internal hemorrhaging. But either way, if that was unprovoked I don't see how it couldn't be at least manslaughter. If he knew the man had bleeding disorders and it could be proved he knew, I could see a DA going for murder of some degree.

It's sad to me that a senseless act could take away a father. Now their lives will be changed forever. Condolences to the family who has lost a loved one.
