funny things announcers have said live

Edited Date/Time 8/3/2015 10:37am
i forget the actual dialog here from emig but i will write it into my own sentence,

emig - ''90% of the riders are jumping the the tripple, the other half are just doubling it''

im sure somebody will correct me on how it was actually said, but it was funny as f**k. What are some other bloopers you have heard?

When the SX race was held in Jersey this year Jim Holley said, during SX Live, that some of the riders got together and went into NYC to visit the Eiffel Tower.

That's almost as good as the one I heard, talking about Vicki golden..

"Yeah she went through amsoil road to supercross and now she's out here banging boys with the big boys"

I couldn't stop laughing

Art would always be talking about some side story then they'd switch the camera to McGrath making a pass or battling someone and Art would get all worked up and jumble his name up, "AND JEBRBERMY MCGRATH WITH THE PASS!!!" good times.

What about Jim holly during the sx preview show making the jerk off motion to someone offset and the camera was still on him.

Seems like I remember Emig would always try and sneak in some back-handed comment about Larocco's Leap whenever they were at RedBud

Its an easy job to make mistakes at. When you have to report what's going on and having to think about what to say next and something comes up all of a sudden and then issues with brain block to the mouth. Announcing is so much fun and so easy to do but time behind a mike makes the difference between good and great, with a large amount of personality. Some top formats of racing are getting away from the person and focusing on the program. You take away the personality from an announcer and it just becomes a recorded message.

I remember Lisa Leyland starting the post race interview with Ben Townley after he won Moto 2 at the MXoN in 2010, by saying. 'Race 2 winner for Team Australia, Ben Townley'. Doh! Worst thing you could say to a Kiwi

He's beating them like a pack of pitbulls at Michael Vicks house.

He dusted them like amarillos on the road to Mojave.

Jack was the best man at my wedding.

This is concerning tire choice in Road Racing.

This quote of his was heard round the world when he was commentating for the World Superbike Series.

JACK Burnicle was talking about Colin Edwards’ tyre choice on World Superbike racing:

“Colin had a hard on in practice earlier, and I bet he wished he had a hard on now.”

Larry: "That means there is a race going on and you are not in it"

"He is all over him like a Krishna on an airport traveler" -Larry Huffman

"He is tougher than a two dollar steak" Larry Huffman

It wasn't so much of an announcer thing as it was a rider misunderstanding, but I still laugh when I think about Erin Bates (I think it was Erin) interviewing Pourcel after he won the first moto....She said something like, "That was a great first moto! Do you think you have enough in the gas tank to do that again? Pourcel looked at her with a funny expression and said, "Yes, I'll have my mechanic put more in!"

The guy that used to announce flat track races had some interesting one liners. I also think he made up nicknames for the racers mid race. I forgot the dudes name, and he has passed.
