That Glory Hogs video of Jimmy Albertson was great. Does Willy Wonka own Glory Hog? Just wondering 'cause they have that Oompa Loompa girl doing the interview. Glad the vermicious knid didn't get them all. She was kinda cute, in a sunkist sort of way.
Oompah Loompah girl?? Laughing

I was thinking the same thing! That's pretty wrong really. She had the interview attitude down though, butter face.

The 97 was the 1st year of the Alum frame and was bad ......I raced one 2 times and said no more as it was so stiff it just beat the shit out of my arms.

they made it better in the following years after the 97.

97-99 they were virtually the same bike. at least where it counted. unforgiving frame, harsh fork. I rode them all, a bunch.

To the OP, just pass on it and go buy a 2001+ YZ 250 for cheap and be done with it. You can make that bike do or be anything you want it to, especially if you get one with the SSS fork (which can be retrofitted to older models very easily and you can find them for squat on E-bay all day long)

Been in Mx since the late 70s, by far the worst bike purchase of my life was a 97 Honda cr250, run away as fast as you can.

I rode a 94 CR500 for a year and actually liked it. My buddies wouldn't want to take it for one lap!
I had both, and the 94 CR 500 is ten times better. Loved my 250 back in the day (looked soooo ahead of the rest), but it honestly was a piece of crap, and probably didn't get any better.

There is a reason you see a KX250 in my photo.... The 98 CR250.... I just got shivers run down my spine thinking of how harsh, rigid, and I'll handling it was.... Horrible horrible motorcycle!!!!

My least favorite bike of all time and I've had a bunch of 'em.
I remembered very well the "wet dog syndrom", lol, but actually had forgotten how many times I welded, gusseted, refabricated and rewelded the subframe upper mount...

I absolutely raced and rode the heck out of my 1997 CR 250.

Intermediate Motocross, expert cross country and desert all on stone stock suspension. From 1997 to 2001 I put more hours on that bike than any bike I ever owned.

I am not as picky I guess. Great bike as all CR 250 were. Bullet proof.

I raced a 1999 CR250 for four years. I would recommend 22mm off set triple clamps and heavier front springs. The bike was faster than I was capable of. It was unreal how durable it was. I only broke two parts the entire time I owned it, a rear brake caliper mount and the left foot peg.

2001

2004 when I sold it.

It won more worst bike ever poles than any other bike. Run. I have had a lot of bikes but those 97/98/99 Honda's were the worst by so far. Like my earlier post says there was a recent pod cast where test riders were telling Honda that they can't release such a horrible bike to consumers but it was too late. Honda new too but had committed. MC said no way in hell he would continue to ride one. It's common knowledge to steer clear of those. Lol

I guess you didn't see him ride one in Steel Roots or race one. If you had read MC's book you would know he left Honda because the way they were treating him and their rules, not the bike.

He has said he hated that bike so many times. Yes I forgot he was under contract to ride it but didn't want too. My bad. Yes I read his book too. By the way, I did well on them but it just wasn't right. Lol

It amazes me how far bikes have come and people still blow up the 1st gen cr AF's. We have literally been riding cadillacs since 1990.

When you climb off a 500 , and your first thought while riding that 250 is " Damn this thing vibrates alot". The thing had some issues.
