1991 called......

Edited Date/Time 6/23/2015 2:33pm

Currently wondering if I've overcooked it.
Got some fresh gold excels to spoke in, so I'm hoping they'll balance out the outrageous colour scheme.

Putting into reality the bike I wanted as a 14 year old is a bit of a shock.

I get the same feeling when Im working on one of the bikes ive owned. I always think "I wouldve killed for a 250 when I was young" lol. Only good part of being a grownup is buying toys our parents wouldnt buy Smile

Nah I think it looks boss! take a picture of it a bit further away so we can see the whole lot?

Are you running Titanium YZ footpegs?
6/10/2015 2:01am Edited Date/Time 6/10/2015 2:01am
Yes, it has Ti YZ pegs in it. (Also has a Ti rear spring from a YZ too) never been overly fussed about originality as it gets raced, and is built to be used.

I'll get some better pics once I've done the wheels and get it back outside.

Unused works pro circuit pipe and silencer sat on the side awaiting fitting too.

Grey fork guards will be swapped out for White ones.

(Had '90 colours on it last year as a tribute to how I used to run it as a teen)

absolutely brilliant color scheme. I am collecting the stuff to make a pink '92, so there's no limit to outrageous schemes I think...
as you are, I'm collecting the bikes I wanted to ride when I was a teen. the only thing I would modify on the bike is the Yellow number plate decals but that's just my personal opinion since I'm a Euro Mx guy.
compliments!

Agree about the number backgrounds, although I feel it might look better once I've done the rims and fork guards.

If I was faster, I could have green backgrounds, which would be great, but I race Clubman A in hare and hounds, so have to have yellow Sad

7 years time I can race vets, and run blue!

Thats the go! OEM titanium stuff is pretty much as trick as it gets I think.

The alloy tank is pretty cool also!

The tank's a VRP one, the same as they ran on the HRC supported bikes over here in the GP's.
Had it acid dipped, and now can't bring myself to have paint put on it.

I like it. I'd run white fork guards and possibly a white rear fender but that's just my personal taste. Love the old zebra stripe CEET seat covers!

Love the 90 scheme too. Just like the Honda factory bikes in 1990 running the 91 seat pattern! Cool

I personally like the idea of you having "two" bikes for one. Nobody ever said you have to only use one scheme exclusively, right? Both of your configurations kick ass.

Cheers Barkhard.
It's actually quite unusual for me to have only 1 set of bodywork for a bike.

We all have more than 1 set of riding kit, so why not the same for the bike?

Tried it with a '91 style seat yesterday too.
Really need to get the hubs out for powdercoat, and spoke in my gold excels so I can see how it looks (and the current DID's had a hard time racing an XC last year.)

91 OEM look is still very cool but, again, I'm a Euro bike fan. I Painted my tank and it looks very good but my bike is a garage queen. in 91 official bikes' tanks were Painted in OEM color

Yeah, Trampas Parker's 91 GP championship winning bike had the tank painted.
A shame to hide something so beautiful under some orange / red paint.

I was posting the same picWink so I'll go for a smaller detail. the bike is currently on display in Martin Racing shop

Fantastic bike - would love to see it in person. Should get to see Trampas Parker race a replica at Farleigh Castle this year though.

Also love the look of the auto prototype honda built for the Japanese championships.

Here's my project. Hoping to make somewhat of a Jeff Stanton replica, eventually.

Cheers, looks superb - that'll kick my arse into gear. Got other bits from my pile of stuff I need to find time to fit.

Since my Herring replica most likely is not going to pan out, I'd like to do a build along these lines. Or possibly something bright.

I'd like to find some FLO colored plastics for a '90/'91. The picture above is from the net. I do however, have the rear fender and sides for a '92/'94 like those pictures above.

Yeah mate that's me... I'd rather have that CR thoughWink

I worked on the same project too, very nice bike I rode in that era, and still impressive now.

Beautiful 250.
The blue/yellow number boards really make it.
