Where would you recommend I move to? Has to have a moto track close, and I hate the cold. Not really a big city guy either. I was thinking colorado. How cold does it get there in the winter?

Any time I get the chance I throw this picture out there.

In all honesty, we've got plenty of tracks around here and many hare scramble series. Good state for riding and working.

What kind of work do you do?

I'm in the Automotive field but I'm sick of it and looking for a change.

i would say Utah, it's great as you get all the seasons, you can literally snow ski, ride a dirt bike in the desert, and go boating all within 2 hours of each-other.

that said, we don't have shit for motocross tracks and the extremely conservative side of things is definitely off-putting

South Texas summers can be kind of long, this summer has been bearable so far. I really like NM.

It gets pretty chilly in Colorado in the winter, but the rest of the year makes it all worth it.

I remember a full 7 days where it didn't get above freezing here in Denver in February, but that's about as bad as it gets.

And WHEN you take up snowboarding - you really start to love the cold and the snow...

I lived in Texas for 35 years, and moved to Colorado 3 years ago - just for the simple reason of wanting to live here since I was 3 years old. I can tell you that I have never been happier, and no offense to any Texans or anything Texas, because Texas will always be my home, but I ain't never moving back!!! This is just the place for me tho...close to the mountains is pretty much all I care about. Soooooo much to do. Too much to do, honestly. Colorado is the greatest place on earth!

My personal opinion, of course.

Edit: Something I'm sure not used to - yesterday was the first day we turned on the air conditioner since last September. That is just so foreign to me, but it is awesome to not sweat all the live long day.

We only get about a week of winter here, the rest of the year it's 99°. All Yankees here now so it's real kooky. It's like people from up north come to Florida and everything is like it's the first time they ever saw things in real life. It is amazing. Tongue Evil

True. I like the surprise looks my friends from up north give us when they have some gator tail and say, "That's good!"

lol

we have a local pizza joint and there's a chick that worked there all last summer that was working on dred-locks, pit hair, and letting her facial fuzz go wild.

i hate judging but it was a little hard to order pizza from a chick that didn't believe in personal hygiene

I know you weren't even considering it but don't come to Missouri. We have the worst of all four seasons; horribly cold winters, humid summers, and usually wen don't get much of a spring or fall. There are some decent moto tracks but it's definitely not worth it. I'm counting down the days until I can move.

Colorado gets my vote. I want to live there but I like the cold.

Don't know how old you are but if you are not tied down with a wife and kids, then travel around and see shit. The worst thing that can happen is that you don't like it. Then go. I did a lot of it in my youth. What I found was the bigger the city the harder it was to find good people to hang with.

No matter what, you won't suddenly find a best friend anywhere. You won't find your dream girl either. They may be right in your home town.

The other thing to consider is that you might be a fucking prick. In that case, no matter where you go, the people there will figure it out at some point and you will be looking for someplace else to go.

You don't want to come to Colorado, it's basically LA now. Traffic is a nightmare at all hours of the day, highest cost of housing in the nation right now, pending your career you may not be able to afford to be here. Outside of that, it is a great place. If snowboarding is your thing, have fun sitting in that traffic on the weekends, I haven't boarded in years due to that mess.

Warshington is full, please do not move here.

My bro in law went camping last summer on the Olympic peninsula during the week and said the campgrounds and popular spots were insanely crowded...said he'd never go back and do that again.

Some depopulation would be nice so I could have my fishing and hunting spots back to myself.

A basic 1 bedroom apartment is 1k a month and that is BASIC. You cant buy a decent house for under 300K anymore so if you move to Colorado you better have some money to spend just to live and that will cut into your fun money. Colorado local MX has all but died and the only real big races are LL qualifiers and a few like that we use to have full gates in the A class every week now its maybe 7-8 riders if that. We are lucky we have been in our house for 25 years so housing isn't an issue but I feel bad for people buying their first home right now.Sad Good thing is that when the polar ice caps melt and the country is flooded WE control the high ground.

Southern colorado kicks ass! Traffic isn't bad and it's not nearly as expensive as Denver for rents and such. If I had to stay in Denver I would have just moved to SanDiego. The weather down here is so much better too. I ride my track every month of the year.

Move to Calgary. Everything Colorado has without the crowds. A little colder in the winter though. A few months of snow biking and then back to the track. Cool

Agree, problem for me is I can't command the salary I have here down there. Same with the western slope or I would be over there.
