Boot came off during the crash, he walked (limped) off under his own power. I think it is all a shoulder issue (fingers crossed it's nothing serious).

I too thought maybe he broke his tib/fib by watching the replay. Luckily it just looked weird because his boot was partly pulled off. I'm sure that had to hurt too though!

It looks like a broken or out of place knee brace

Wow, just a couple of minutes ago there was a tweet (can't remember from whom) that said Eli Tomac had a dislocated shoulder that was put back in place at the Asterisk rig and no further damage. Poof, tweet gone. Unsure

Edit: Found it
Update from Honda PR was a separated shoulder for Tomac, popped back in at track & no other damage pending check tomorrow.

From GEICO Honda

"Eli is receiving further evaluation following a dislocated shoulder in the second moto," GEICO Honda team co-owner Jeff Majkrzak said. "The Asterisk medical team was able to put his shoulder back in place at the track, and Eli is otherwise just fine. We hope to have him back next week."

Not my favorite rider but certainly up there, can't dispute his talent. Not sure why this crash was different, maybe because I am fresh off a dirt sample, but watching him hit the ground jacked me up.....such a tough sport!

I don't know. Where did you see it in a splint?

Also, which way to Area 51?

They always want to keep the arm in place for a reasonable period of time to keep swelling down and let the body heal itself, once it is popped back into place. There is trauma to the area when things pop out. He should be fine, as long as it didn't cause any tendon or ligament damage when it came out. It most likely did, but in lots cases can be minimal.
