That is so easy to say, but if you have ever been owed a large sum of money and had the person dodge you to avoid paying it for months on end you might sing a different tune. Things like this can set back business along way or even ruin them depending on how well established they are. I'm sure Don regrets the way it played out but when someone owes you money and avoids you and then has the cheek to ask for more help, it would take a very strong and very financially stable man to just wait and "take it to the courts". Especially when taking the case to court will basically just cost you more time and money.

I said this a while back, but it bears repeating. The Liebs and Alessis really need to join forces under the Smartop/MotoConcepts/MotoGraphics/MotoOptics/MotoEverything traveling circus. Don can run the 250 team and Tony can run the 450 team. Along with Genova it would be a dream team and obvious opportunity for a TV show. Obviously, Freise would have to go (make sure the firing is taped for the TV show). Team MotoFuckeveryoneelseswayofdoingthings.

No doubt. If you can't handle a stock practice bike, no way can you handle a 68 horsepower finely tuned race machine.

Well said, everyone keeps saying stolen motor? He gave it to him and didn't get paid, total civil matter and he will be lucky if he doesn't get arrested at some point. You can't touch another person or their property without breaking the law on a criminal level. That being said I believe he should be paid but DL needs to do it the legal way and not try to take matters into his own hands. This isn't the 1920's

We all learn the hard way and sometimes those are the best lessons. But it is all made better with grandkids dreams and love in their hearts doing the right things so they can be good men. Throw in some thank yous and God's blessings for good measure.

Wow, look how that stock 450 Honda stumbles at 7 grand and peaks at 55 hp. Then see the same low compression setup engine pull like a mofo all the way to 9500 and 66.9 HP. Somebody must have a rather unique injection system.

I have accounts all over the country, I rarely get asked to pay in advance, it's not uncommon for things to be let out without payment.

Someone promised to pay, Their word is obviously no good. if my neighbor promises to pay for a truck and does not pay and I'm driving that truck around . I'm driving a stolen truck.

The race track drama , It's borderline crazy and penalties got handed out as it should be.

There is a slight misinderstanding here... Regardless of DL allowing the engine to leave and be used, it was not paid for. When the engine was commissioned to be built, the agreement was made that payment would be rendered. It is not a civil matter, it is a criminal matter, the engine not being paid for after 60 days and being of value over $2500 it is a felony. DL has every right to confiscate the engine and those involved in the commission of contracting DL to build the engine are responsible, and have committed a felony in not paying the bill.

What DL did was totally wreckless and irresponsible, and he has to answer for that, but, he isnt the only one here who did something wrong.

Leib has done it to others, so I am surprised he did this to Olsen. I have known companies where he dropped shipped his stuff to them, and asked them to pay for it! He didn't pay in advance! What an idiot to do this to a privateer! How many times have I heard you guys shout "let's all help the privateers any way we can!" Now you turn your back on a guy who can't pay for a few months!? How about instead of bashing the guy, you open up your pockets for him?

Remember when life was simple. I was visiting my cousin and was on the strip in Lauderdale. I ran to the car because I forgot my wallet, on the way back I get sucker punched by some thugs and i fall and five guys are kicking me right on A1a. Well I get up and drop all of them. Right then a cop car and cycle cops race up and slam me on the hood and tweeking my arm. Luckily this elderly couple comes up and said they saw the whole thing and I was just minding my own business and got jumped but they jumped the wrong guy. The cops asked me if that's what happened. I said yes so they said justice served, shook my hand and let me go. Now a days I would of been arrested any way. Pussification

DL was asked to reprogram the bike, so he did...... He just reprogrammed it how he wanted to not how they wanted him to.

They let him/them reprogram it, they just did a shitty job of reprogramming like Cade did a shitty job of paying.

You skip out on paying then you ask to have more work done to it, Hell yes I would have done the same thing!!!

MXsports is caught in the middle and I am sure they are not happy to have to penalize DL but they just can't let it go.....

All things aside, that was F*UCKED to do this on race day in the middle of the race program. It was total bull$hit for them to do what they did and how they did it.

I hardly ever agree with the AMA goobers but we are on the same page on this one.

And you Vital members who think this was the correct way to handle this fiasco are "really really whacked".

It sucks that a court battle would just mean that a lot more money will be lost. It sucks that these days it's oh well arrest everyone and let the courts figure it out mentality. Like innocent people have time to go in a cell and then do the court thing, like people have any time for that. The police spend so much time at the court house that they think it is normal for everyone but no one has time for that. It sucks this pc bull runs the country and not good judgement.

The whole fuk'n world runs on credit, for those who aren't aware. Don is running a business, all businesses have accounts receivable and accounts payable. Stamp It. Most have attorneys too. When Don extended credit he assumed the risk associated with a receivable. His attorney, if consulted, might have told him to get a written personal guarantee from Gram or somebody, securing the debt. There are many ways to protect against the loss from a bad debt, Don chose an illogical one at Glen Helen. Maybe he's talking with his attorney now, possibly regretting his actions. Too bad this scene couldn't have been avoided.

Should Pitts and DL have just walked over to his bike, worked on it as they were asked to do, make it run better for Cade, and then just walked away....still out the money for the motor he just fine tuned? Is that what you're saying they should have done?

Let's try to understand this....DL builds a motor, expects to get paid within X amount of time, he doesn't get paid within that time frame, actually he doesn't get paid anything at all for months, he continues to try and collect on the debt owed to him for the motor and work he did, still hasn't been paid, then the guy with the motor in question that hasn't been paid for in months asks DL to come take a look at it to make it run better. What is DL supposed to do, run right over, remap it, make it run better, turn to them with a smile and thank them for not paying for it and walk away? Get serious, some of you people are nuts. Sure, DL and crew should have handled it differently, as in not touched the thing at all and tried to collect through the legal process. To be pisseed at him for doing what he did after being asked to make a motor run better that was never paid for is ridiculous....it's like being punched in the balls and telling the guy thanks, please do it again.

Unbelievable that anyone would do work and release a bike before being paid. That must have been one smoking hot grandma!

If whoever was supposed to pay for the bike work did not have a large enough credit line on a Visa/MasterCard then they should not be racing. Some can afford to race and some cannot....its a tough world

Do I agree with the way Leib handled it? No. But to take this through the courts would not benefit Leib one bit. He may be granted the money by the courts but getting it is another story.

Deadbeat douchebags should not be allowed in the pits. Leib should get a temp suspension if that

As I stated before............ Don does the SAME thing to other businesses in the region, so why did he do this to a privateer??? We should get behind the privateer like we always do on here. Why are we all of the sudden blasting him because he might have fallen on hard times like they all do? What Leib did was horrible...........

My understanding is that DL SENT Pitts over to talk to Clason's mechanic about, "we found where there may be a problem
like on others bikes" & Pitts offered, "under orders" to remap the bike, & remap it he did.

If this is true then you just wasted 10 minutes of your time with all those words.

nevermind, at this point, Don only "owns" the motor, I'm sure he couldn't have taken the whole bike
