Obviously, they have the plastics, svingarm etc from Katoom, but the frame seem to be aluminium. Seems to be handbuild as well! Found on www.MxLarge.com

Yep its sweet, I think KTM has been selling one exactly like it for about 3 years now. Come to think of it, I've been racing an orange version of it for 2 years...

No, maybe, I don't know. It all depends on wall thickness, shape etc. Looks cooler though.

The frame is a bonded and bolted item ( no welds ) made by the same people that make Aston Martin monocoques. The snub frame is a one piece carbon unit.
The engine is a Yamaha motor.

Very cool bike. I don't WANT one, but it's a very nice bike. Overall, though, it'd be hard to buy one of those and know I could have bought a CR500AF.

Funny that CCM was the innovator in trying to keep the old four stroke alive and now Service Honda is the innovator trying to keep the two stroke alive...

I dig the current five brands that we have, but also remember the days when there could be ten or more brands on the starting gate.


How many of you remember going to a race and seeing an Ammex, Husqvarna, Carabella, Can-Am, Sachs, DKW, Montesa, Bultaco, CZ, Ossa, Zundapp, Maico, Puch, Hodaka, etc.


I'm all for more manufacturers giving it a shot now, but man, going head-to-head against the current five, and trying to make a go of it in the highest levels of racing? That's tough work.

It's probably impossible to succeed right now as a new manufacture. But a race team might work! The more the merrier!

I loved those old days, but I don't think they're coming back unless the economy or legal issues force the big builders to stop building motocross bikes. If you think back to the old days, there was a lot of different technology in those bikes and there were lots of variables. If you rode a Husky and a Maico back to back, they weren't even nearly the same. Now you can ride all five of the dominant bikes back to back and the only one that is really different is the KTM - so riders have a natural sense of what is "right". "Right" is defined by "what I'm used to", so for someone to really innovate today is the kiss of death in the shootout world, and if you die in the race tests in the mags, then you aren't selling anything. In fact, I think that's why KTMs don't do better in the marketplace - they're great bikes, but they're different, and in lots of riders' minds, "Different" = "Worse". People like what they're used to.

Back when there were that many brands on the line, two-strokes were still fairly new, the Japanese brands were just making inroads into Moto, and suspension travel and components were about to make large leaps forward.

There are evolutionary times in development, and revolutionary times. Back then it was the latter. Companies that progressed survived. Those that didn't are now footnote in Moto history.

I remember the CCM bike that Donny Schmit won a 4 stroke championship on a lot of years back. That bucket of bolts didn't look anything like this gem...

Hell I have raced or at least ridden most of those bikes.......

I'm pretty sure any of these manufacturers might be on the line at some point in 2009 GPs. Maybe times arent so different
