Been in High Tech Sales (inside/outside rep roles) in Silicon Valley CA since I graduated college in 2009 for a handfull of companies. It's a very fast paced, fun career that is more than fair in regards to pay and flexibility to allow me to ride a few times a week and sleep in when needed. Basically waiting for a large acquisition or IPO (went through two IPO's thus far but not as much payout as expected) and then I would love to get out of this industry and into the moto world for work! Been heavily contemplating finding a fit for me in the moto industry sooner than later but that all depends on timing and such with life and wife and house. I'm very blessed and fortunate to be where I'm at but would always be game to welcome more moto into my life haha Smile

BTW - this thread is very cool! I love seeing what fellow riders do for a living and it's interesting gaining insight to other people's jobs since we all work almost everyday

Airframe & Powerplant license. Gives a guy the right to work on aircraft. I have one also. You pretty much need one to work on aircraft at an airport in the U.S. However, there are plenty of aviation jobs where you don't need one. Government does not require one to work on military aircraft, but it can help you get hired. There are private entities that don't require one either. For example, Flight Star here in Jacksonville does not require one to work on jets at their facility. I was told you only need to be breathing to get hired there, and being fluent in Spanish helps if you want to make it into management.

When most people hear Lockheed they think of the military side of aviation but I actually worked on a lot of civilian aircraft too while at Lockheed. UPS, FedEx, Delta, NASA, U.S. Customs Service, Hawaiian Air just to name a few.

My uncle works at Lockheed. He's been there 20+ years. Didn't it used to be called General Dynamics?

Lockheed acquired some of the production rights from General Dynamics in the early 90's. What first comes to mind is the General Dynamics F-16 which is now manufactured by Lockheed Martin. Both companies are still in existence.

Dad's a quality control engineer for L3, who make a lot of the parts in the planes you guys work on. Some pretty interesting stuff, I've gotten to see some of their facilities before. They make everything from displays and gauges to black boxes, to cell phones, to grenades, to military drones, etc.

I machine several parts for L3. Mostly suspension pieces for nose gear. Bushings, etc.
