All this 'cause an American got caught cheating. Not a single person here is questioning the validity of the attention deficit disorder claim ( he was good enough to be justifiably called "the Fastest Man on the Planet" and win championships before the diagnosis). I suppose it's because only low down furriners cheat.


I remember heated arguments defending Lance Armstrong, the solid gold all American hero, before he came (partially) clean. Even now plenty here will defend him, with the "they were all at it" line.

Amphetamine is even in a nasal sprays for running nose. It`s widely used in medicine and I bet you used it with in half a year.
No dog in this fight, but amphetemine is definitely not used in any legally available nasal sprays, at least not in the USA. It's a controlled substance. You're confusing it with pseudoephedrine which is used as a decongestant (and as an ingredient in cooking meth).

You are correct, Adderall is not the same as methamphetamine, I know the difference, that was a bit of hyperbole on my part. My point was, as far as WADA/USADA is concerned, and as far as it relates to JS7, they are equally illegal. All amphetamines are also not legal without a prescription, but they are not available over the counter (at least in the US). However, having a doctors prescription for Adderall DOES NOT in any way mean you can use it in a sport regulated by WADA/USADA without a TUE. James KNEW he needed a TUE and he KNEW having a doctors prescription alone was irrelevant to WADA/USADA because he signed a document that stated he understood that and he understood that if he was prescribed a substance on the banned list it was HIS responsibility to get a TUE.

Would someone like to explain to me how the sport will have less drugs in it going forward because of WADA testing? It's not going to cause James to not take the drug he got in trouble for and if anyone was going to illegally use the drug as a masking agent, James just gave them the blue print to do so legally.

So enlighten me on how this case has helped the sport?

The dumb people will still screw up and not file a TUE.

We've solved nothing and wasted a year of a racers life who probably would've crashed out by midseason anyway. I don't get it. All we've really done is make an expensive sport cost more....

how does it prove that? that is like saying youre not a theif unless you get caught. to prove he was not trying to gain an advantage would be getting permission before using the drug while racing not after you get caught. all they had to do is get permission and they did not so they are either stupid or arrogant or thnik they can do what they want and break any rule with no consequences and then when caught they think they are to get special treatment with reduced penaltys when somelow level guy would get jammed up the ass for the same rule if caught with no penalty reduction. you don;t do the crime if you can't do the time. he knew the rules and he andn his people decided to be stupid or ignore them and now he and they are paying the price for itt. follow the rules and no problems

The FIM decision determined that he did not intend to enhance performance when he was using adderall without a TUE..

In my opinion most signs point to them being a little dumb and screwing up only because after you get caught by WADA, they make it EXTREMLY hard to get a TUE for the substance in question. After being caught the TUE process is much more stringent.

Athletes in general are not the smartest people and we don't exactly watch or pay them because of their intelligence.

James is doing the time for his crime, but to say the FIM shouldn't try to improve the process of the appeal etc is dumb. The faster they get these things heard the faster the sport can move on from them. The entire sport had to pay for James crime because the FIM/CAS does not operate in a mannor that fits a sport that races every weekend. this needs to looked at and addressed so these things don't take a god damn year to resolve.

We have a war on performance drugs that aid the body in a tiny niche sport where half of the top ten doesn't even finish the series because their bodies are injured.

We need a war on nobody making any fucking money.
