I dont have the tools to do a full rebuild on my honda 2-stroke and was wondering who you SoCal guys go to for fairly priced, quality labor? I'd be open to a shade tree mechanic too if he was good.

Im in the san diego area

Doesn't "shade tree" mean that they're not good?

I suppose it could

I know there are mechanics out there who work out of their homes and do good work so that would be an option too..

I always thought that meant the shop was under a tree so there was no air conditioning, no???

Myself, though only thing I didn't do is rebuild crank itself and balance it. I had RP Racing press my crank halves/rod and they did a great job.

MXerDW....how crazy you mention Rudy @ Proprept! If I remember right back in the early 90's he was in San Marco...I think....I may be wrong....He did my suspenion on my 90YZWRA 250! I used to live in Vista. Good to see a solid guy is still making a go at it!!

John Turner from Motormedic Racing is the best wrench around. Has worked for and still works with a lot of top AMA riders.

my landlord is nice enough to let me keep my bikes and basic handtools in the garage but there is no way in hell she'd let me break the cases open, not to mention i dont have all the tools like i did when i was working at home.

are you just being a dick or are you being serious?

Also vouch for Rudy. Great guy, does good work. That's where I take my stuff that I can't do myself.
(or when I fuck it up the first time and take it to him to have it done right. hahahhaha)
