Seems like every time I get on here I read some new thread about stolen bikes...
It is actually getting on my nerves at how often this seems to be happening now days. Sure, I imagine it has happened often in the past, but it looks as if the amount of pathetic low-life thieves is rising. It's really unfortunate. I wish you luck in getting them back.

Just like the database for accidents we need a database for stolen bikes. I would like to know what locks were used, in the case of vehicle theft was there an alarm, was there a fuel or ignition cut off switch.

We have to band together to make it harder for these SOBs to rob of us our equipment we used to fuel our passion.

Very true.

Stay on top of craigslist and ebay, they may pop up. Luckily people that aren't smart enough to work aren't that bright.

I hate thieves, F'em. Very frustrated, sorry to hear it. I do wonder why more people don't insure their bikes against theft. My insurance is like $15/month ($180/yr) and that includes $1000 for personal injury too.

Some thieves have stole pro's bike last Week End in France. Cyrille Coulon, Valentin Teillet and Fabien Izoird to name few of these pros... Teillet and Izoird's team lost 28 000€ of equipement.

FYI.. here in the UK , people chain their bikes up between races , and anyone carrying a bike in a pick up (which pretty much nobody does) is just asking to be followed home and robbed. .. if i was leaving my bikes in a van at a hotel(which i would never do) somebody would be sleeping in it, and if we get home too late to unload from the races, i sleep in the van.

I see threads about guys getting stuff stolen out of pick ups and stuff in the US, i am amazed that anyone with the intelligence to buy this kind of stuff expects to be able to leave it out in plain sight and it still be there when they come back

In the same little city, 8 bikes were stolen the same night 2 weeks ago. We know were they are, but thse thieves have more than 20 kalachnikov. Oh and by the way, they're not from France (and our politicians have the guts to say immigration is in full control here in France)...

My 06 yz 125 (Fire/Theft only) Progressive policy is $74 a year on my yz125. 500 deductible. Includes up to $4000 in aftermarket and accessory coverage.

My 96 cr250 (Fire/Theft only) is insured for 48/yr. 500 deductible, 5000 in aftermarket accessory coverage. (Will pay on all rebuilt receipts up to $5,000.)

Bundle the policies and they discount it further.

My 2008 yz 250 was insured for $74/year. It paid $6,300 when my bike was stolen after deductible. Furnished ALL receipts, was a hassle, but they paid. Then when you go buy a new bike, the insurance company is obligated to pay your taxes on the new unit if you purchase a new unit within 30 days of insurance payout. I purchased a brand new 2013 450 12 days after I got paid. And they sent me another check for the Taxes incurred on that 2013. So somewhere around $6700 total.

It's a WIN/WIN people. Of course it's agonizing that your perfectly prepped and set up baby is stolen. But just ease the nausea and insure!

It would be very tempting to set up a "sting" operation. Without involving the authorities. Make it appear like an easy target. A few strategically mounted razor blades and straightened fish hooks under the usual places where someone would grab a bike to pick it up. Of course those blades and hooks should be dipped in fecal material before being installed. A motion triggered camera to catch all the action would be cool too.

That would be great, but I bet you would get sued by the perp and end up in jail yourself in todays society.....

I hate it for them that they got their bikes stolen. Totally sucks!!

But wtf?
You have the money to travel, stay in a hotel and race 2 bikes, but you don't have insurance on them?

Not smart.

Gotta be a way to put a chip inside the engine. Like a microchip in pets. Put it inside the motor so it cant be removed.

This guy doesn't mention whether the bikes are insured or not and I don't see how that is the point.

Good luck getting your bikes back.

If they were insured he wouldn't have a gofundme account asking for donations to buy replacement bikes!

"i just used the gofundme for pics of the bikes so don't feel obligated to donate"

The point of this post wasn't to get donations.

jeff his name is trey valley. hes a great little rider who has stepped it up a lot this year. his from up north and we ride with him a lot. just really sucks to see this happen to him. his family doesn't have the kind of money to just replace bikes and they do everything on a shoestring budget to the point of sleeping in there car most of the times. I really hope they find these bikes so he can get his shot at lorettas this year. someone did lend him a bike for this weekend which was cool as hell but between not being setup for him and his mindset being destroyed he isn't riding like he normally does, im hoping today he can get some better results. the regionals are still 2 months away so there is still hope

your right and we found this out the same way 5 years ago when my house got broken into and they stole my truck with our bikes and tons of other stuff. our insurance told us we were covered but you need to get in into writing our get a separate policy. these ins companies will find any loophole out of paying.
