You would know that no data is being taken.
I ask the data seekers ,how would you go about getting this data?
Who would do it? Are they going to be at ever track with clipboard ready to run out to track side and ask the crasher if the 450 did it ?
Or,are they going to visit them later, say at home or at the hospital.?
Taking witness statments to? Measure the site, jump angles and distances?
Is the emt going to do it? Think they are busy
Just exactly what data and how would you do it,seriously.
Segment of the riding population that feels qualified to argue with kdub and unfortunately have a means to get their
Opinion out there
The only thing you failed to mention is that the cost of racing is also about 75% less when two strokes are involved as a bonus.
The only thing four strokes have contributed to the sport in my opinion is the fact that they allow riders without the proper skillset to make an attempt to ride moto because of their ease of use. This seems like a great thing, until said rider is in the back of an ambulance because he/she ran out of talent.

"Someone will kill themselves at Frankston if something Isn't done. That's a ride park. Huge Table tops, doubles etc. Pro's riding with Jnr's etc MADNESS!! To me, the track is being built for Pro's to practice on."
"It is with great disappointment to inform everyone that the park will be closed until further notice, this decision was made by Frankston City Council until the findings from the weekends tragedy have been concluded by the relevant government departments. We will be holding our general committee meeting tonight at 6pm in the club house and all annual members are encourage to attend. The Volunteers that put their personal time and effort into the park are devastated at this decision and together we hope to all band together for a resolution."
It's not like Mookie is a line backer nor the biggest guy to ride a bike.
There have been a bunch of tall and big guys who successfully competed in MX before the introduction of 45-50HP 250s and 65HP 450s.
I've seen it for years and 99% of the time nobody does a thing.
In the end it comes down to rider decisions and experience. Ride to your ability level. I have a friend that is not fond of going to the track because he says its dangerous... I tell him only if you get caught up in the 'I need to be faster than that rider because hes younger, smaller, on a smaller bike, or my favorite... a girl'. I have no problem having a 12 yr old on a 125 rail past me nor do I have a problem if a 40 yr old lady pass me on a ttr. If I haven't jumped it, or tried the 'crazy' line before they passed me I'm not going to do it right after just for them. What's funny is how we go ride in the woods and he just rips it. I try and explain that doing 60 mph through the woods on a trail 4 ft wide in the middle of butt-fuck nowhere is way more dangerous than the track imo, you just don't have the pressure. To me it is obvious that the bike is more capable than me so I don't push it.
Somehow we need to encourage people to ride within their own ability and not care if they think the guys over there are laughing at him for not hucking that jump. My experience is, is that no one is ever going to laugh at somebody for not jumping their 250lb dirtbike 100ft over a double. If someone did, I would have a serious problem with them. I feel like this would make the biggest difference in serious injuries.
before in a 125 race and 250 you would have vastly different times between the classes because the 125 was much slower and now most guys on a 250f can log times placing them in the top5/10 of the 450 class. Really what has happened is a return to what used to be a 250 class and a 500 class.
if you look at HP figures on even stock bikes 250 4t are starting to reach the low 40's. the ktm puts out like 42? the yamaha 250 2t stock only puts out 45hp. Despite the difference in power it has been proven that the same rider will log similar lap times due the different nature of the engines.
even the 450's are putting numbers close to what kx500 puts out, but the power is put out slower so its easier for riders to manage the power. I wouldnt say that 4t's are more dangerous to riders because it compensates for a riders skill, i personally chalk it up to just the nature of the sport. Ive seen just as big and harmful crashes coming from 125s and 250 2ts. anyone remember the crash segment in the Terrafirma videoS???
I think part of this is also the tracks. Obstacles havent really evolved in the past ten year as they did in the 90's and 80's. as building and prep got better they also adjusted the obstacles to challenge the bikes. however it appears that obstacles have stayed the same size for the past 15 years. i think a new take on how obstacles are built and what kind of obstacles. Lets be honest, EVERY supercross for the past 20 years had a double for a finish line and a 65' triple somewhere on the track.
another possible explanation to the amount of crashes in SX could also stem from monotony. If you look at people who work in factories they have many injuries and this stems from doing the same task over and over. After a while peoples focus gets complacent and thats when mistakes happen. Think about it. You show up to a track and you walk it over and go, " Ya these whoops look the same, that jump is the same etc. But on a motocross track the riders line up at a different venue, with vastly different dirt, and vastly different layouts which challenge them to focus.
My two suggestions are reintroduce a 3rd class being 125's then let 250 2ts race with 250 4ts
second rethink how a track in a stadium can be designed. not every track HAS to have a TRIPLE or a double for the finish or have a whoop section or a long rhythm section.
Pit Row
I couldn't agree more.
So some of you (probably bigger and heavier guys) think that for a few large pros in the sport we should make EVERYONE race faster bikes?
BTW how old are you and do you have any kids that ride?
EDIT: I disagree with "shit nobody can control" strongly The only way we can't control things is if we all think like you do. AGAIN no one thinks they can make the sport completely safe......can you understand that?
How much power every bike makes is not the point I was trying to make. I was trying to point out that it is not the bikes fault, both are fast and make enough power to hurt somebody. It is dependent on the decisions the rider makes. I don't know why I got involved in this thread...
We are going on about this because it's a problem. Things ALWAYS change. You used to be 15, now you are just mentally 15. Changes.
They will ride with the pro's at the local tracks. Big jumps are going to stay.
Says you? Cool. Big jumps aren't the problem. 4 stroke pussies who don't have skills to hit them are the issue.
Bikes won't get slower, so you all might as well stop crying and ride your bike or don't ride; I don't care. Stop crying about shit. People get hurt when you ride dirt bikes, always have and always will.
This is where we differ. I actually want the sport healthy. I DO want you to ride.
So enough with the arguments over shit nobody can control.
This is a forum, and grown men talking is called a discussion. We can control it, and we are. Every bike purchase controls the future. We aren't buying 4 strokes and we are spreading the word on 2 strokes again, and those of that can are buying new ones.
One older rider asked the manager if they could put in some chicken lines around the larger jumps. His answer "Just hold it on mate"
