With the Detroit round scratched from the 09' sked, I'm looking at having to drive to Indy to catch some live action. i got to thinking about the highlights of the past few live Supercrosses I've seen and I gotta say that Stanton's "slow lap" last year was right up at the top. It wasn't the riding or even the rider, but the sound of that crisp factory 2-stroke barking out as he clutched it over a few small doubles that got my blood flowing. With Yamaha, Suzuki (I think) and KTM still selling 2-strokes, wouldn't it behoove them to have a top-20 rider out there on one? I know all about the competitive advantage the 4-strokes have, so I know we'll never see a top-10 rider on one. But face it...there are some riders who may actually do better on a 2-stroke (Mike Brown comes to mind, and he's associated with KTM now...ding ding ding!). The fan interest would be there (I'd have flown to Atlanta last year just to see RC bust a lap a couple laps on the RM250 if I'd have known about it).
I know I'm beating a dead horse, but I have time on my hands tonight....

night do a 2 stroke only race... So many possibilities
we will prolly never see haha. Tough shit I guess.
I think you make it a class for 15 year olds and up, rookie year only, 125 2-stroke only, each rider can participate in 3 rounds throughout the year. Their qualifying races would be during the day between practice sessions and the main would be during that long break before the night-show starts.
Maybe? Maybe not.

Brilliant.
So often in life, it appears our two-stroke smoking section is relegated
to the neglected area of the spectrum - it's time we spoke up,
grabbed the megaphone and collectively hollered :
" Yo, we still want TWO-STROKES racing MOTOCROSS.
DAMMIT."
im not gonna complain haha ill take
the 250 too.
two strokes are still alive in the amateurs, for sure! Plenty of power to still be competitive.
but I WILL GIVE YOU it is a lot better than
some fmx demo...
I think with the OEM's dumping the technologically inferior pieces of shit are a sign of the times.
It would create drama, a show, and Interest to watch the new guy race the old champs bike he won on.
SX is a drag nowadays.
Plus, Bubba on a 2 stroke just sounds bad ass. He'd win on a 125 probably.
And for those that think 2 strokes arent competitive, how come Tedesco cant beat RC's 250 on his 450?
Pit Row
With most bikes racing today four strokes, why do they still get double the displacement advantage?
There's a reason the AMA cleaned house this year,,,,,,,,they are all goobers.
but I get your point
All four strokes did was allow novices to clear obsticles out of tight corners..... real talent is still a a 2 stroke kept on the pipe and flyng around a track. Not a peice of crap four stroke sounding like a big fat elephant fart..... how anyone can like a four stroke is beyond me.
Why the hostility toward two-strokes? Move to four strokes or quit? Get real.
It's just an alternative....still competitive...the are all over amateur tracks. If people have fun riding them and it allows more people to ride than why complain?
I guess all those 85cc riders are just anachronistic dinosaurs clinging to the past..bwahahahahaha
My Dad used to have a 2 stroke car back in the day ! Some East German P.O.S .
