If Dungey wins.......

3/15/2015 5:27pm
If and when Dungey wins, it will be because he accumulates more championship points than the other riders, period. It is not fair to any rider to hear that his championship was not as hard to attain, or that an asterisk should be attached to it. Ryan is getting better starts, and is showing a bit more aggression in his style, which is allowing him to get in the lead and stay there. Whether it is because of Aldon, getting married, or getting comfortable on the KTM, I could care less. It's just good to see a class act win.

The other thread was asking what caused his improvement. Anyone that says RV retiring and Bubba being out didn't greatly help his chance of a title is blind.
The last time James Stewart won a Supercross championship was 6 years ago. He is no longer a factor.
The last time Dungey won a Supercross title was 5 years ago....... and he is a factor. Rewatch 2014 Toronto Supercross and get back to us.

Dungey has sacrificed to build the KTM brand, and now that they have this new machine, his speed and aggression would be highly problematic for the aforementioned opponents. Believe it.

I can name at least three riders who are not scared of Dungey. Bottom line, they need to be consistent in the beginning.

Dungey has never beat JS7 for a championship either.

Really?....Last I checked this is the first one since 2010 that James hasn't lined up for...pretty sure he's lined up with Dungey every time since 2010

2010 SX he got injured and 2012 450 he won the first 2 rounds and got injured.

I'm taking about both being in a full season.

Bubba won A1 in 2010 and won 4 motos in 2012 MX before he got injured.

Ya if JS7 is no longer a factor, RD was not a factor last year. 5 wins compared to 1.

Jeez. Blink How bout not discredit any of these guys. There are at least a few guys that "could" be a factor, but you have to be in it to win it, and Dungey is in it and doing awesome.
Crashes and injuries happen, and could to Dungey. Let's just hope he can continue to stay healthy, and get the title. 5 years between SX championships is a pretty cool thing to achieve.

I'm talking championships. James had so many DNF's last year due to bad luck (and some bad finishes). 1 he swapped out, 2 he thought he tore his ACL when he planted his foot (same reason KROC is out) 3 suspension issue 4 daytona when his header hit alessis bars......

Last year he had 5 wins and RD had 1..

Holy shit....talk about woulda coulda shoulda....You continue to prove why James is not a factor for a championship and hasn't been one since 2009....fact he won 5 races and got beat in the championship by a rider who won one...

Excellent post
This class is full of very serious competition , but one man has almost a 2 race lead on second place and 3 full races on the rest of the field at this point in the series
Things can change quickly
However
Statistically whoever wins Daytona holds on to win the SX title

Stewart would crash 3 or 4 times which would take him out of championship hunt. Dungey might podium 16 out of 17 races. Hard to beat a guy that does that

To be fair, Dungey beat him by 32 points and James had one DNF due to Alessi, and one from bent bars from his crash at A1. So without Alessi taking him out the points would have been very close. Dungey is awesome, and I'm pumped he looks like he's going to win it again, but to say JS, RV or Roczen would not have a chance if they were there is not fair. There are no * in racing, and Dungey may beat them all if they were.

Yup. Where Dungey smokes everyone is that when he doesn't win....he's usually top three. When others don't win...they don't finish or finish way back in the ranks.

I think Dungey is the only one in the 450 that finished top 3 (2010-2014) in SX and MX and he missed the 2011 SX Championship with that chain problem he suffered.

A few wins doesnt make you a factor in a championship if you stick your pecker in the dirt every other round and cant finish on the box 10 times in the series.

RV had 5 main event crashes last year, Stewart had 4, and one was when Dungey took him down. Its the DNF''s that really kill ya.

Very good racer and rider, and I'm not even a fan. He has been on another level though. I think Dungey fans are getting a bit wild over saying how Dungey was a factor last year. lol

And yet Dungey still finished over 30 points ahead of him. Stewart has never finished better in points than Dungey in a supercross season. In fact he's never finished a season within a full race of Dungey.

On any given night, I'd say James is a major threat to win the main. Over the course of a season, not so much.
