So for the "non racer", Sheheen telling the viewers that Canard still gained 10 points on Dungey last night is a good thing? lol

On the broadcast last night Emig and RC said what year they made their debut racing SX, then Ralph said he made his debut racing SX in '89. I didn't originally hear that but my buddy did. We'd pvr'd it so went back to re listen. Sure enough Ralph did say this....WTF???Blink

Ok, I'll take my warning but I will stand up for Ralph in every thread made to hate on him. Friendly suggestion to maybe warn the guys hating on him?
Your math is unrelated to my comment. Also, 570 posts in two months might be a sign of things...

Monster produces beverages.

I was just thinking yesterday how awesome is it to have live TV for every round of Supercross. It's a great show.

I really like Langston as a racer and as a color commentator. But he's nowhere near Ralph's level as a TV host.

Why do I even bother to give out warnings when some users choose to be ignorant and argue the original point... Well, I tried.

Bring back Saturday night live audio cast!!

What pissed me off about the broadcast is that I avoid anything SX related for a whole day because I was taping the program to watch this morning and I didn't want to know ahead of time who won. During the start of very first 250 heat the scroll at the bottom of the screen says Dungey won BEFORE ANY OF THE HEATS WERE EVEN RUN!!! Thanks for nothing! Blink Pinch Angry

Let me pile on, but hopefully constructively.

Do the producers, the crew or ralph, understand what ralphs job is?

I don't think they do. most sports employ a big voiced guy to CALL the event. Meaning to give an auditory description of the event. They then employ an expert to give COLOR to the event, someone who has insight into the activity.

ralph rambles somewhere out in a field all his own. making strange comments and attempting to be a COLOR guy (at times).

NO ONE calls the event. At times Jeff tries, (and yes, at times ralph does too). But the MAJORITY of the time no one does.

The gate drops and two or three or four corners in you MIGHT be told who's in first, maybe one or two other riders mentioned.

The guy paid to CALL the event (IMHO) should in the first two or three corners be able to identify and relate the top five and note any top rider (favorites at the first of the series, and top five in the points once the series progresses) who aren't in the top five after the start and quickly attempt to locate them and provide where they are. This should include 3 digit privateers in LCQ's, because the guy is paid to CALL the race on LIVE television in a STADIUM with 50 thousand people.

AND throughout the race the guy CALLING the race should be able to keep tabs and provide input on significant riders movements in the field which might not be on the screen.

The COLOR guy then is left to talk about what the guys are doing and how. The guy CALLING the race need not tell us what they think the riders are thinking, what they might be motivated by, or anything else related to the racing of the motorcycles, because he's a guy who talks on TV, not a racer who knows these type of things at this level of sport.

anyway, I regularly have to watch SX with the sound turned down. I try but why be annoyed. I'd love to here Fro and Ricky talk about it, I really love to here the bikes, but I can't handle the rambling ralph. example: ralph one time last year, when the post race camera scanned over James Stewart and his mates, gave a quick run down of seven or so names of each of JS's buddies. yet he can't identify half the riders on the track without looking at his notes.

just my two cents. and yes, I know it's a difficult job (but so is satellite communications, I get paid to do it, so I try to do it well)

but we all know that Weege does the job sooooo much better. there is talent available.

Exactly! Ralph is play-by-play but I hear him all the time talking about some technique or something like he knows what the fuck he is talking about. Ralph needs to call the start , passes, just basic play-by-play stuff, and let Fro or RC comment on anything else. The problem is he comes from NASCRAP where all the talking heads, even if they never even raced a gokart think they have to comment on everything as if they are experts. I cant count the times Fro or RC is in the middle of a comment I WANT to hear and fucking Ralph interrupts them mid thought to add his worthless drivel.
