Stewart high point moto 1 I believe? maybe moto 2.Georke was lapped by stewart and before finish line stewart looked at him let him pass and then crossed the finish line. allowed georke to finish the race.

The difference is that Goerke was not on Stewart's wheel for half the race.

That's not what your post said though, your post said "Show me one instance where a rider gets his lap back outdoors" and I did, and now you bring out the excuse book. You were wrong trying to prove someone else wrong. Don't matter how long Goerke was following Stew for, he got his lap back.
Oh man you really got me good. I guess you win at the internet.

Guys,

Eli was racing, too.

Normally, the blue flag is waved for someone who is about to be gobbled up by the leader like a fat kid with Halloween candy.

Eli was a lap down because of a wreck, but on the leaders pace. He wanted to make up positions, even though he was back in the field.

How can you say that's wrong?

Maybe there should be a pink flag to throw out for the leader when a rider, who is a lap down, is about to pass his ass.

Didn't have a problem with it at all. There was really no race going on with anyone and Dungey so no harm no foul. I liked seeing this and wish I saw more of it. Eli stayed out of the way, did a little racing indirectly with Dungey so I consider that a win as a fan.

Now, Eli needs to get it together and start competing for the win. That's a whole other topic.

Your interpretation skills seem below average. Please let me know which subpart to the rules that he broke.

1. He was overtaken.

2. He let 5 pass him, without fight.

3. He held his line, and never impeded Dungeys progress.
- ET stayed right on him. Okay, what, that could have messed him up mentally? Oh man, here's a tissue.

4. He did not disregard the blue flag. He let Dungey pass him, but then later (cleanly, without hindering him) passed Dungey.

Answer with a 1,2,3, or 4, and your explanation... Because I just.dont.see.it.

Tomac was smart, he pulled over for Dungey and then followed him to make it easier to pass and gain positions. My only issue is some of the flaggers were blue flagging riders that Dungey already passed but Tomac had not. And then did not blue flag Tomac. I only saw this a couple times and Tomac most likely would have passed them anyway but just thought it was weird.

Dont think Tomac caused Dungey any issues either.

Now #5 knows what it's like to be followed around most of the race by someone that refuses to make a pass... Woohoo Tongue

SO EXACTLY WHO'S JOB IS IT TO TELL ELI HE'S A LAPPER.......? If he doesn't want to be. Sometimes common sense really has to be the judge. They're still racing. God forbid something happened to Dungey. but what if he gets hurt....? all of a sudden it's a points battle.

If you don't know the difference between Tony Archer or Chisholm being lapped and Eli Tomac, then you don't have a dog in this fight. Or any common sense. IMHO.

Bunch of keyboard warriors in here. Maybe signing up for a race would go a long way.

You know season is boring when something like this makes three pages.

Since when did following the leader become "racing" him?

From what everyone is saying here, Dungey should be more worried about how a "lapper" kept up with him and passed him.

Lapped riders still earn points and still make money. First place is not the only one that matters. What if Dungey impedes Tomac and keeps him from making a pass or three on his final lap? Thats absolutely no different. Under your plan the scenario could even come up one day that a first place rider gets to hold up a lapped rider and costs the lapped rider needed championship points.

Alessi wouldnt of been able to pace dungey that late. Neither would any of the other lapped riders.

Tomac wasn't low class. He was salvaging. My god in nascar lapped cars fend off their Lap from leaders all the time.

If anything tomac was nice enough to stay behind until dunge started letting up on the last lap.

Kind of what I'm wondering. I saw Tomac check up several times so that he DIDN'T pass Dungey. He had several opportunities, but just rode around behind him, then got his lap back. I don't see what the big fuckin' deal is.

When is a lapped rider actually the faster rider?

when RD goes in points protection mode and ET has gotten up from a wreck in points panic mode.

This is such a NON issue.

Tomac rode behind Dungey almost the whole race picking off the riders he was aloud to be picking off. At no time was he racing Dungey. He is permitted to ride behind the leader once he has lapped him.....

It just happens that the guy being lapped was as fast as the leader, sure that doesn't happen often but it is permitted.

Then Dungey LET him by a few turns from the finish because Dungey wanted to cruise to the finish.

Yeah, Tomac wasn't trying to race Dungey at all. Wasn't even trying to pass him. He was being nice. I'm sure it made Dungey nervous though but hey it is what it is. Dungey slowed down to enjoy the win and maybe even to let Tomac have another lap to pick off some more riders.

I think it really is a non issue but the discussion is still interesting.

Bullshit.. the blue flags are there to make sure lappers don't interfere with a battle for the lead.. if the leader can't out pace a lapper than that's his problem

Imagine the following example: a crash in the second turn of the race and only the "top" riders crashed and are all tangled up. It takes so long (and lap times are so short) that the leader, for example Ben Lamay passes them. Seconds later the top riders get up and start going again but in your opinion it is forbidden for Dungey, Tomac, Canard, Reed, Roczen, Stewart, ... to pass Lamay again because he's the leader. They should all follow him because lapped riders have no "right" to unlap themselves.

Matt Walker got DQ'd for this in the outdoors.
It's something you don't do, but don't expect the AMA to be consistent.

Tomac was faster.. not impeding Dungey if he's faster. It's pretty clear to me

Blue flag.
1. Indicates you are about to be overtaken by faster riders.
2. When conditions allow, move out of the fast line.
3. Hold your line (don’t ride erratically) and do not impede the faster riders progress.
4. Riders disregarding the blue flag may be black-flagged at the discretion of Race Director

I didn't read all four pages, but it happens in f1 sometimes and is no big deal. I will admit that they usually don't interfere too bad, but sometimes slow the leader momentarily. Never heard them say much about it. I'm on vacay so I didn't get to watch the full race but saw him unlap himself. Maybe I missed the bad part.

That's because he was visibly slowing to avoid messing with Dungey.. it was obvious (to most) Wink

Pretty obvious he wasn't going full out so he didn't pass Dungey and so that he didn't stay too close.. Outsider and Me saw it pretty easily.

While I don't think he was impeding Dungey he definitely was pushing the pace which could have gone bad for the leader and was basically using the blue flags to pass other riders who didn't know he was a lapper at that point.
