It would seem to me that wearing light colors would be smart for a race in a very hot place.

Never seen RV whip off the goggles so fast after a finish line before, wearing black is the "cool" thing to do on a hot day, but not the smartest.

You'd think any form of cooling would help in the situation. White and lime green Monster would still look cooler (and feel it) than black.

I think this Shift gear was bad ass. I had had the blue version of this. Some of the best quality gear I've ever owned.

I don't really think it matters once you are moving and the air is blowing across you. I have had plenty of black gear and although you can feel it on the line, not so much once moving. IMO of course.

Wondered the same thing myself. Black vs white makes a big difference in the sun. Gear guys have said it's up to the rider, they pick out what they like so I doubt he was forced to wear black. Maybe in all of the chaos of racing 1000s of miles away this was just overlooked. mistakes happen Tomac has worn a mismatch set this year...

Ricky described why he wore black in an interview and it was something like this......I'd assume it's a lot better at shedding heat once you are noving than white is.

Unless RV was going faster than the speed of light, then that black is going to get hot. I had a black muscle car when i was 18 and in summer i could not touch it. Had to wrap a rag around the steering wheel...

who really gives a f***, when your in thailand, racing in full moto gear, its going to be hot no matter what. iv been there a few times and its hot walking around in shorts at night! let alone full blown gear
