Dont be stupid.

All you're witnessing is that the GPs offer a different set of variables and challenges than the AMA outdoors. The top riders in both championships are roughly on par with each other - a point us Euros have been banging on about for bloody ages but very few would even entertain the idea.

I think he did alright tonight. I've never been a fan of him, but I'm not going to bash him for not riding like were used to seeing him ride. Those guys were blazing fast & their bikes looked good. He should have raced those pre-season races these guys were racing. It would've been a good time to get race conditions testing on the bike & find some GP race settings because his bike looked like crap.

His mechanics, they've wrenched for the GP's? I'm surprised they didn't convince him to do the preseason races or have some setting already to use. DV kept saying he told him to change his settings & you would think Rattray would have some suggestions.
A few of us voiced our mild surprise when it became obvious he wouldn't be doing ANY pre-season races and we were promplty put in our places by people who told us that he didn't need no damn warm-up!

Jesus. So the guy comes back from major knee reconstructive surgery, changes to a different team with a different but similar bike, after not racing in 10 months, and now the GPs are the superior series huh? Did you even watch the Nationals last year?

You know, if you and any others like you would go ahead and refrain from sharing your incredible wisdom with us for the next few weeks, that'd be great.
He's lucky Herlings didn't move up and put him down another place in both motos, after being back on the bike for two weeks.

LMFAO..... just wait to the many of the National Regulars show up to Glen Helen this year. Its after our series..... you can bet many factory riders will be racing there.

There will be some serious ass kickin..... happens to be one of RV's best tracks.

I think the biggest fault he made was chosing Rattray for helping him setup the bike and suspension. how the hell would a Guy who's barely top 20 himself be able to setup a bike for a winner. The level in GP's isn't that bad as you all could have seen tonight. If RV wants to win, everything has to be perfect. Otherwise he'll wont even make it top 5.

Besides that, RV is only 13 points down behind Cairoli and is in 7th place in the championship. Nothing to worry about.

That's ridiculous. After having a lay off, seeing the past 3 MXoN's, knowing these dudes are no joke & neither are the GP tracks, you would think the people in his corner if not homself would say hey, it would be a good idea to try some racing here to help take away some of the unknowns, ala race settings. He had to many variables coming into this season. To many unknowns. Even race day, just the different race formate was really different.

Am i the only one laughing at the people who think RV isn't faster then the competition over there ? He got 8th and 9th today against guys who test the same set ups all year round ,jeez real tough to say who is going to win that race.

Kinda the same story with Lommel. GP riders would be crushed on any track, even in the sand. Then mxdn got held at Lommel and everything we had been saying about the difference with US tracks became truth. AMA outdoors and MXGP are like apples and oranges. They fall in the same category but are not alike, at all.

Damn, he's dropping anchor. Those lap times are not inspiring.

I'll be the first to admit, maybe the GPs are the superior series. Those guys are all on equal ground with many having new teams/bikes. There shouldn't be any reason Nagl is faster than Villo other than he's just straight up faster which seems to be the case. Fucking depressing, but I'm not giving up on him yet. I'm hoping he's just working on the cobwebs, but he needs to step it the fuck up if he wants to compete for a podium. He's 41 secs off the leader...

Max has come back from an injury ruined season and given marching orders from HRC.... Flys half way around the world, strange country/customs, leaving his wife and baby at home, new bike, strange team, job done!!!
World championship motocross is just that, a World Series, sx and Nationals are tough, distance traveled etc but the cultures stay the same, it's all in one country, food, currency, language etc. RV has just discovered the biggest difference between the two series, rider talent wise both GP and AMA very close but GPs are tough mentally..... It's gonna be a hell of a season, but then it always is.

Hes got months of testing and got to chose his teammate, where he wanted to train etcetera. Vital was full with people saying he would smoke everyone In Qatar. In fact, with his talent and everything around him, I also thought he would be podium minimum.

But you guys gotta get over it, he sucked big time and needs to Get better real soon. 2 or 3 more of these results and hes done for the title.

Desalle got a 3rd in the first moto, crashed hard in 2nd and scored a 10th overall on a stock bike with borrowed suspension at washougal. Scored a 2nd overall in Unadilla and at his last apearance in the US outdoors he scored a 6th place. Strijbos scored a 9th spot there.

De Dycker got a 9th overall at Hangtown.

Keep on laughing i'd say. Wink

Decent points, I think he will win soon though but for people saying he was rusty isn't a good excuse because RV could have done pre-season races like everyone else.

Also, Herlings only rode the bike for 2 weeks and he won both motos, he's had less prep than RV and wasn't even ready for pre-season races.

This is the World Championship, setting the bike up and adapting to different tracks is part of what makes you the best in the world. RV will figure it out, but he and a lot of people got a reality check today about the level in GPs. Now he knows, he will get on with the job with even more determination.

But can RV still win the title? Of course! He did a good job of limiting the damage in what was a baptism of fire and things can only get better from here.

Hey ,poto got flatout smoked today , i never really thought he was gonna destroy the field , even if he loses every race i will still know that he is one of the fastest dudes ever on a dirtbike. I honestly just think its rad when riders decide to hop over and race here or in this case go race over there.

You can ask that to yourself and make all the excuses you need to cover for a very poor performance from your Captain America great ginger hope. He might have been able to pull one out of the hat with his performance in a AMA National, but sorry to break this fact to you, we race GP's and he has a lot to think about now that he has tested the water, he got passed by a rookie ( on a new bike, team, class etc..) who pulled a 8 second gap within a few laps.RV's team had plenty of track time to make adjustments but it was obvious they didn't understand the situation and if that's the case RV needs to find a new crew for the return to the real tracks in Europe, his learning curve is already steep and he doesn;t need a subpar crew making it steeper. Hope he can step up before he's too far down in points to make a difference.

I haven't watched much of the GP's but I am trying to figure out how some Americans came up with this theory that the GP riders are slower than our series? These guys are fucking flying!!!!! Through rough nasty shit at that.... BTW Villipoto will be fine... he always seems to start series off the pace, especially this one when his motor is turned off lol Smile

Seems there are 3 different types of American.

Those who are gracious in defeat in this single race.
Those who are making excused for him, already.
And those who still believe he'll win both motos and will dish out any sort of insult with it.
you're an idiot. those 3 "types" can be said about any country in the world. were all human. just have somewhat different culture.. an asshole is gonna be an asshole no matter where he was born..

and to be honest, its seems the euros have more clowns ranting and raving about this whole ordeal.. theres only been a few americans being dumbasses about the situation. but 90% of the euro post are trying to rub it in our faces... but since were americans were automatically put as the loud mouth assholes.

everyone needs to just grow up and enjoy some good racing. were not on the track. its not personal. stop making it that way.

but to add to the discussion of rvs performance; when is the last time he did good at the first race of a series? seems like he always chokes at first, then rallys strong at the end. or at least he did last year in SX, when he had a worse night then he did here at qatar...

Your kidding right? Who else was going to help RV with bikesetup? AC ? Paulin?

Rattray was Villopoto's only option. Anyone who was capable of helping RV with bike setup is also trying to beat him. In 2012 Europe Redbull KTM had a hard time telling Dungey bike settings for Lommel.

Very exciting racing to come, the top 10 looks VERY competitive and apart from 100 and 9 I think all the big contenders scored good points in the first race. Nothing is gained or lost...

I didn't say Desalle,Van Horebeek ,Lieber or Strijbos where going to win or kick some ass. And even after not winning the race I'm proud of my countrymen giving their all in the races. Keep it up Team Belgium Evil Evil Genieten!

Jet lag on traveling to each of these rounds out of Europe Is going to be tough to battle. The different food, the different hotels, the different people it's all so new to Ryan, the rest of these riders are used to it. I'm just saying it can't be discounted. Long season ahead, top 10 is o.k. for now.
