If I'd been by my self I would done 80 down the left lane passing the peckernecks with a bird out the window.
I'm more careful when my daughter is with me and being in a 50 car pileup smashed between 2 rigs was on my mind.
And,yes, she was with me when i was arrested last year but that was just running with traffic ,singled out with a Tennessee tag I'd guess.
We will make it next weekend no matter what. I aint missing them both.
We had a 15 minute walk to and from the dome from our hotel, never felt unsafe.
Local workers at hotel, restaurant and GA Dome were friendly and cordial.
We drove 6 hours so going again next weekend is really not practical. If I lived within a couple of hours, I feel sure I would make it for both weekends. Beer, snacks and souvenirs were reasonable priced given where we were.
Our ticket price face value was $62 each. Festivities begin at noon at end around 9 pm....that's a pretty fair value for 9 hours of entertainment...in my opinion.
I get the Monster Energy can as admission to the pits. Smart marketing.
However, I felt certain they would be selling it at the pits....in a huge way.
I would have bet $100 that Monster would have a HUGE presence selling ME there. They had none.
Thank goodness the small gift shop sold cans for $6 each so I turned it in full.
No ME can= $15 to get into the pits.
Why the heck wasn't Monster selling their product outside the pits...in a huge way?.
I think numbers would've been better with a round or two between them. Very cost effective for the teams thou.
Pit Row
Dave Prater said that Feld did not want to do back to back, but thats the only way it could happen this year and are hopeful to seperate the events out more in the future. Feld's goal was to have 100,000 or more for the two weekends combined.
BTW the dome looks empty when 50,000 people are there.
2. Track. I had wanted to go to ATL2 based off of nothing other than the track map, but you can't say no to free industry tickets. I would assume others had similar thoughts. If it wasn't for #3 on my list, I'd be going back for sure.
3. Back-to-Back rounds means 2 Saturday's off work in a row. Don't think this necessarily impacts everyone, but those of us with full-time gigs in a manager or owner of a business role know how difficult it can be to get away for 2 weekends in a row. And even when you're not at work, you're still working and have to be available, which is not what you want to do after deciding invest the money in a weekend away from your working life. Not to mention the factor of expenses everyone has mentioned, which is probably the biggest factor, I'm just offering an alternative.
All of that said, the wife and I had a great time at our first race. Other than waiting a ridiculous amount of time for a phantom cab after the race that never came, the experience was awesome--the vibe on race day is truly something you have to be a part of first hand. The city in general was great, as well. Never worried about our safety walking around, and hell we even took the MARTA back to our hotel sometime around midnight after I'd heard people talk about how "sketchy" it gets at that time of night. Everyone we met, from GA Dome workers to fellow fans were friendly and helpful. Will 100% be going back next year, hopefully to both if they can separate the weekends.
Ticket prices suck... $200 for 4 tickets... $30 to park. Waiting an hour to get out of a parking garage.
just rechecked ticketmaster for the ny nj round. sold out on ticketmaster, check stubhub
5k+ seats available on stubhub.
5k seats. 2 months out.
i can't wait to reverse scalp all these scumbags sitting on that inventory as the race closes in hahhaha.
Also, I don't think that it was the weather or ticket prices, I think that it was just interest. It's down this year. That's just MHO. When I saw that the crowd was so thin I actually thought about going to ATL2, but I doubt I'll make it.
