Any Vitards going to Thailand

Edited Date/Time 2/6/2015 3:17pm
Thought i might make a holiday of it and go see Villo and the boys play in the sand in Thailand.
Anybody here going and have suggestions of places to stay, how to get to the track, best place to buy tickets and the like. I have seen some shonky websites pop up advertizing tickets etc...

That book would probably come in real handy Randy... Plan on finishing the trip with a happy ending :-)

i have been the last 2 years , but they have moved the race to the other side of bangkok , it not from thailand circuit one of the tracks they race the road race championships on , there is not a lot out there , will take at least 3.5 hours to get there from the airport ,
you would be better off staying in bangkok city so will take you at least 1.5 -2 hours to get there everyday

i won't be bothered going this year as i always stayed in Pattaya when it was at the old circuit

there is a pic of track here not sure if you can see as fb link

Not trying to hijack your thread here but it's related, I'm in Western Australia and wondering what the cheapest GP would be to fly out for a few days and attend? I ask this because for some reason I feel like Thailand would be it.

It's definitely the closest GP to you!

I'm in West Oz as well so it is only a hop, skip and jump. It just seems a pain getting to the track from Bangers.. Wondering if there is a town out near the track. May have to sleep in a rut or something...

Taken from their website;

ThaiMXGP Track is located in Thailand Circuit, Nakhonchaisri, Nakhonprathom. Approximately 45 Mins. from Bangkok
(with flow traffic condition, from Chaophraya Bridge)

We have four recommended choices of neighborhood area for motocross fans to extend the joy weekend of ThaiMXGPwith four
different flavors:

1. Bangkok. (45-60 mins to track)

2. Nakhonpathom

3. Nakhonchasi

4. Salaya

Pattaya Beach is a good time but its about 3 hours away from the track (That's a wild ass guess). I know it took me about 2 hours to get to Bangkok from Pattaya.

I'm going, but I live in Bangkok so it's not too tricky. We've got the Superbikes in Buriram coming up as well. Happy days.

I'll try and get some pics of your boy Villo getting done by AC Smile only kidding, should be a good race but I reckon the track will be rough, and not necessarily in a good way. Shame they moved it from ChonBuri, that was a good track...

Shonky

Oxford Dictionary
ADJECTIVE (shonkier, shonkiest)

Dishonest, unreliable, or illegal, especially in a devious way:

NOUN

(also shonk) A person engaged in suspect business activities:
[/i]we need to rid the building industry of these shonkies quickly[/i]

Urban Dictionary
shonky
Of poor or low quality.
That work he did was so shonky, I can't believe he actually put his name on it.

Not to be confused with "Wonky", which means much the same thing, but typically refers to structures, such as buildings, walls, etc.

It should be pretty easy finding a cab for around 3-500 baht. There's nothing much close to the track. Some good golf courses. They can have some nice rooms.

They moved it? there are more westerners in pattaya who ride bikes (road and dirt) than anywhere else in the country

and they wont want to cross BKK to go.

but this is how this place operates, get something good going and then fck it up!

was 70 ks away now 240, thanks

buy tickets at the gate, there will be less going this year

Going next Saturday for two weeks. Too bad my wife (and job) wouldn't let me move our honeymoon to dates that would include the GP.

i was there tuesday night , its gone down hill , should be high season but pretty quiet in town , as for girls there was not a lot to look at maybe 1-2 out of 30-40 worth looking at, unless you like chubby ones then there where loads :-}}

Apparently Kraitos the Thai FIM guy's name highjacked the meeting and has moved it so near his place so can steal more cash

very typical for thailand , but i now live in indonesia and its a lot worse than it was over there

Thailand? Meh...I'd go to the GPs in Italy or Spain if I had the $$ to travel to a race.
