It reminds me of the time I let my cat design a track. Nothing special...

Wow, no turns!

They should widen and split that long straight into two lanes that you have to commit to either one ala RBSR... of course some turns would be better but.. sigh

Have to assume with only that many turns they're gonna dig the shit out of it, there isn't even that many obstacles...

No one's impressed? Watch- it'll have the best racing of the year- people will compare it to Anaheim 1986, Atlanta 1990, or Dallas 2003.

Or not. Laughing

Not a lot of turns but they all are 180°. We might see some gnarly passes...

I'm sure RC will make it look better than the image suggests

I wish they could bring back the rough 90s tracks that Stanton and mc use to race on, that was real Daytona. This track needs help.
Yep . To me those were the best Daytona tracks.

Could be worse.

Anybody remember early 80's Daytona?

Riding across the pavement in spots to crossover to the next track section?

1983 Daytona Supercross Final - home footage

Go to 1:15 and pick up there....hannah in the lead sliding all over the pavement at 1:25

So, you think this was bad?

Seriously.
Riding on pavement to get to the next section? Definitely bad!
This aint the "Superbikers".

I love the era (See avatar), I hated that track.

Not looking forward to racing this one this year. I don't like the design nor start. Probably made without the corners this year because on Tuesday they are racing the 4 wheelers.......Those guys on the couches like the long straights.

The start looks dangerous because anyone getting cut over on will go directly into the area right after the first corner.

who ever pulls the whole shot will be 5 seconds ahead after that first section, I'm thinking major carnage there.

Ok, Im a RC fan.... have been since I started following the sport and he was a rookie on PC Kawasaki, BUT he needs to step away from the hands on SX stuff while being a team owner. He announces and tries to not be biased and plug his team, but its painfully obvious. And he even gets to design a track, that his team could possibly benefit from. With the overlay technology the teams have for speed comparisons in practice, RC must know which obstacles his riders excel/struggle with, and its only human nature to favor your own interests. If KRoc struggles with camel backs do you think RC would shy away from them? Probably, but why is there even a possibility to have favoritism? Its not like he's the only guy who can design a track at Daytona for christ sake.

He needs to be involved in promotion / announcing / track building OR be a team owner. The conflicts of interest are mounting............................

Come on, this is supercross not F1. Lets be realistic here, there is no way RC designed a track around his teams strengths, and even if he did everyone races the same track, so the best rider should win no matter what. I also have yet to hear RC be bias in any way in the booth. You guys like to jump down his throat every time he mentions his team, but simply mentioning your team does not make you bias! If he said, for example, "Ya, I think our bikes are taking to whoops a bit better than Yoshimura's bikes tonight", then ya, I could see people getting upset. My problem is people listen to the damn broadcast just waiting for him to say something off or slightly skewed, just so they can flame him and say he does a crappy job! There isn't some master plan behind the scenes where Ricky is infiltrating Feld from the inside and plotting out a way for his team to win championships. I think it's great he is so involved and can gives views from so many different perspectives, and the casual fan just tuning in will think he is just another former racer turned commentator, not some biased jerk you guys try to make him out to be.

MxKing, that is not all directed at you, just toward the idiots here who flame RC constantly, your post was just a relevant one to quote.

I think RC goes out of his way to be unbiased and actually mentions his team and riders less than he would if wasn't an owner.. but that's just me

No worries man, I think he does a good job for the most part..... But my point is: in a sport trying to go mainstream and seperate itself from the monster truck vibe, why is there even a possibility for someone to stack the deck? It seems amateurish to have a guy thst can benefit from his own design, that's all.

I can't believe I actually agree with you

But yeah, I think he talked about Ken for example way more when Ken wasn't in RCH- even with Broc last year with all the crap that was going on he was very neutral.

I bet he is extremely conscious of not talking his own team up - and so far this year he has made a vast improvement on previous years

I am looking forward to when him and Emig start their little tiffs though - I love that - give it a few more races and it will become apparent - go Jeff Laughing

Anyway, getting back to the track design...

I think it blows, but thats my opinion. Funny thing is, the race might turn out to be incredible in spite of the track, so I guess we just wait.

Didn't they need to make the track shorter due to time constraints on live tv? You can thank fox sports 1.

Damm shame Gary Bailey is no loner designing Daytona SX. I dig RC's concept too.... just feel we need to keep some traditions in moto/supercross

Time constraints guys.

Daytona use to be 1:20 lap times. They need to cut down on that so they can fit in their time slot and still get in their commercial ads.

Daytona was a little shorter last year. And by the looks of it, the trend continues.

RC didn't want too many turns on the track this time. Just in case Brock Tickle goes so slow he almost falls over again.

Hello TbTeam!

I like how every inch of the infield is used this year.
